One of my favorites!
I work with numbers most of the day - this app is great for expanding my word skills and is fun, too! I especially like that it allows me to check if my intial "guess" is correct, rather than floundering with incorrect letters like I would with a paper puzzle.
I have bought additional puzzles since completing all of the original ones. That purchase was a bit confusing, but transpired without any extra charges or duplication of effort, so, no big deal there.
Would recommend to anyone interested in doing crossword puzzles on their iPhone.Show lessayei
awesome app...til it started crashing.
This app was working like a champ. A great time-passer and the clues were tough enough to be challenging, but not overly obscure enough to be irritating. That's all over now, though, since for some reason it has just decided to stop working. Banner/Title page comes up when I open the app, but then it crashes and spits me back to the home screen. Rinse, repeat. Pretty disappointing. I notice that the full version of 'Crosswords' doesn't have nearly any of the negative reviews here, so I will give that one a try. It's 10 bucks, but if it gets me back in the game, I'll consider it money well spent.Show lessEccohawk
Great game but deleted my progress!
It's truly a five star crossword app... but when I work for a long time to complete puzzles, and the update resets them all to scratch... kinda makes ya wanna take away a star! But it's challenging, fun, and a lot of puzzles... there's a $9.99 version, but honestly this one's kept me entertained and engaged for months for free! If you're looking for an easy crossword, this isn't for you, if you're looking for a challenge including everything from pop culture to medicine to sports to history, this is for you!Show lessroscoecoltrain
A surprisingly terrific free app
I thought I would try the free version and was prepared to be disappointed. There were many negative reviews. That was a mistake. This is a terrific crossword game. Many of the reviews here are misleading, and there is a need to set the record straight. Several are complaining about typos and misspellings, layer/later, for example. People, they were misspelled on purpose. It was part of the game. I won't reveal the trick here, but one of the clues gives it away. Take a hint from the title. Those who are complaining about the clues are apparently not ready for a more challenging game. Regarding "unibrowbeater," think unibrow/browbeater. Get it? This is a classic construct in crosswords. Finally, for the complaints about the small keyboard, check your settings. You can make it bigger. Works for me!
Not too easy, but definitely solvable. Will fill in a letter or two (or more) for you if you get stumped, as well as give you the option to simply check for errors. Much more than I expected from a free app. ETA: with the ocassional answer like "clitoral" & "dcup" you'll quickly learn that these aren't exactly Will Shortz puzzles - quite a few clues are obviously written by & intended for the under-30 crowd. I don't think I've seen the word "erudite" show up as an answer yet...Show lessBurtram
Great App. Going to buy for sure
Most used app on my iPod. Puzzles in trial version are easy to moderately difficult, but I'm by no means a pro. All are fun so far. Really nice interface. I especially like the number of viewing options. It even gives a layout option that is similar to an actual paper copy. The interface is very intuitive. The creators put a lot of thought into detail and what users might want.Show lessSywot

I don't think you can beat this for a free ap. The interface is very nice - you can zoom in and out, change how the clues are arranged, etc. You can start a new puzzle and go back to a previous one without losing any progress. The difficulty of most of the puzzles is moderate, which is my level. Other reviews complain of typos or mistakes, but I haven't seen any. If you're new to crosswords, you might prefer the EZ-30 series, which, as the name suggests, are quite a bit easier. I like these because I can get enough of the clues quickly to get started, and then I'll spend quite a bit of time on the trickier ones - the puns or longer words or obsure historical figures.Show lessgenyoung

The clues are fine. It's a crossword puzzle. It's supposed to be challenging, plus there are plenty of clue options if you get stuck. It's awesome, especially considering it's free. It's funny seeing people complain about it being to hard and then saying the guy writin the clues should be fired or go back to school. Maybe those reviewers should go back to school. I like crossword puzzles and this app rocks. I have noticed a typo in a clue but it wasn't a big deal. It said "baseball diamon" when it meant "baseball diamond". I mean come on people, if you can't figure that one out, you probably have no place doing crossword puzzles in the first place. So try the app and decide for yourself, the negative reviews were not helpful for me, I think the app is a lot of fun. Highly recommend.Show lessYoshi257426
Excellent!
Very professionally done, solid UI, top quality puzzles, and some 30 puzzles for free! It doesn't deserve anything less than 5 stars. Admittedly, the puzzles are a little bit hard if you're not a crossword player but as a semi-regular player, I find them both challenging and entertaining. (You can always use the hints you know...) Rating it low for being too challenging is understandable but it's like rating a Ferrari low because it's hard to drive.Show lessBucksfan22
