Version History of ProRemote Light Edition

4.0.0

November 30, 2021

Everything is new in this version of ProRemote. ProRemote was written a long time ago and has evolved over 14 years. Much of that old code has become unsupported by Apple which means it could be the source of bugs when Apple updates the OS. They no longer test unsupported APIs. It took over a year, but all that code has been replaced with new code that should last another 10+ years. It wouldn't be fair to do so much work and have no new features, so we added a bunch of features to the Pads utility which now includes gesture support and some other neat tricks it can do. A 10-key numeric keypad was also added. ProRemote is now localized in French with other languages coming soon. ProRemote LE and ProRemote are now identical apps!

July 16, 2015

* It's been a long time coming but this new version of ProRemote LE is completely revamped for iOS 8 and now also includes support for the Apple Watch! Yay! * We updated ProRemote LE to have a "stretchable UI" so that it can support all the various iPhone and iPad display sizes. * Finally added a restore purchases button for your hard earned upgrades. ** Because the code is all new, PLEASE report bugs to us instead of leaving a bad review! ** Send a bug report to support@folabs.com and we will fix the bug ASAP as we work on 3.0.1. We want this release to be as rock-solid as our last version so you can focus on making music. *** Be sure to update your ProRemoteServer on your Mac to the latest version (3.0.0) or ProRemote LE will complain that you do not have the latest! *** * We will no longer support any iOS less than iOS 8 with this release. * For those users with older devices that cannot run iOS 8, just stay with the older version of ProRemote LE, it is still fully supported and can still be restored from the AppStore without problems. * Known issues: - If you cannot connect from your Apple Watch and get an error, be sure to first launch ProRemote LE on your phone and connect to a server. Then quit ProRemote and wait a few minutes and then try again on the Watch. - Avid changed their control surface fader taper recently and as a result, the latest version of ProTools' and ProRemote LE's db scales are off by 0.2db. We will address this in 3.0.1.

Price History of ProRemote Light Edition

Description of ProRemote Light Edition

ProRemote is the World's first 32 channel touch sensitive control surface that fits in the palm of your hand. ProRemote allows you to control your Audio applications wirelessly using your existing Wi-Fi network. Get realtime meter data and control your rig from across the room with flying faders! One binary runs on your iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch! ProRemote LE and ProRemote are now identical apps! - Are you behind the drums and need to check your levels and press record? - Do you frequently need to be in two places at the same time? - Do you like sitting on the couch and playing guitar instead of being glued to the computer? ProRemote is your solution! ProRemote is free to try or you can subscribe to all the features or just a subset. If you only need basic control, just the transport subscription can be added. Or have a look at ProTransport, an inexpensive "transport only" solution for controlling your rig. ProRemote on an iPad is like having four Mackie Control Universal Pros, but better because it's wireless and much less expensive. You get almost $4k of hardware for the price of ProRemote. And ProRemote also works on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Need an XY controller? Check out Pro XY. Use gravity to turn your knobs! Pro XY can also be unlocked in ProRemote. MIDI pads for drum programming or other tasks sounds nice, right? ProPads is your solution and can also be subscribed to within ProRemote. ProRemote also contains a virtual mouse and keyboard that allows full control of your audio machine for those hard to reach places! You can see and control your full computer from anywhere in your studio! This version officially supports: - ProTools - Apple Logic - Ableton Live - Soundtrack Pro - Digital Performer Unofficially we support (no skin or custom fader tapers, not all features may work): - Cubase - MIO Console - Sonar - Reaper - Reason - Vegas - FL Studio - Studio One - Audition - Tracktion - Final Cut Pro - Any audio software that supports Mackie Control protocol (or HUI protocol). ** You must download ProRemoteServer in order to use ProRemote. ** Please visit www.folabs.com/download.html to download the server. ProRemote is Mac only- Windows is not supported! ** Because the code is all new, PLEASE report bugs to us instead of leaving a bad review! ** Send a bug report to support@folabs.com and we will fix the bug ASAP as we work on 4.0.1. We want this release to be as rock-solid as our last version so you can focus on making music. * Please note that certain Avid or Digidesign Ethernet based control surfaces can interfere with ProRemote's ability to control all 32 channels. In some cases ProTools will limit MIDI control surfaces to eight channels only. Please purchase the Light Edition if you own a C24 specifically or contact us before purchasing if you are unsure. * We will no longer support any iOS less than iOS 14 with this release. * For those users with older devices that cannot run iOS 14, just stay with the older version of ProRemote, it is still fully supported and can still be restored from the AppStore without problems. *

Reviews of ProRemote Light Edition

Waste of money

Just downloaded this app with the purpose of recording myself while I’m away from my console. Ableton won’t even recognize the midi device. Hence I cannot even follow through with the steps on the website.
Buyer beware. Running MacOS Big Sur

Response from developer

Big Sur support is currently being tested and a new version of the MIDI driver and server should be released shortly. In the meantime our customer support can help you get it working there.

It Does What I need it to do

Bought this app and had trouble setting it up correctly so contacted their support team and Alex was super helpful and got back to me quickly. Turns out I was the one not doing things right as far as setup and once I did the app works really well. I’m able to sit behind drum sets and hit record and cue up my stuff when I’m alone and also go into the sound booth and record vocals with nothing but the iPad which is great. Highly recommend this app.

An opoligy

Ignorance on my side, after reading the latest instructions from Far Out Labs, I was amazed on how silly we can be without the right info. This app is awesome once you read the instructions carefully. It works with
Protools flawlessly and other DAWs. I spent at least 24hrs trying to get to work without that info and was about to give up until this latest instruction guide came across my attention. Thanks Far Out Labs, My apologies again. Bernard Snucky Miller,Nassau Bahamas.
