Will Not Control Ableton Live From iPad

I’ve tried everything, followed the online “manual” (such as it is) and TouchOSC from my iPad will not send any midi control to Ableton Live. Installed TouchOSC Bridge on my desktop PC… multiple times, TouchOSC finds TouchOSC Bridge my desktop, connects to it with no issue, configured Ableton Live to correctly to send and receive MIDI using the TouchOSC Bridge but no midi commands from sent from my iPad using TouchOSC register in Ableton Live. I have wasted HOURS fighting with this app, did send in a contact request but as of yet no response. Even at one point installed Protokol, using the OSC protocol was able to see the midi messages being sent but STILL… no midi changes in Ableton. I WANT MY FIVE DOLLARS BACK!!!!

Abandoned app for more cash grab!

Instead of providing existing users with an update or special price for the new version the developer just renamed it and ABANDONED existing users!

OSC!

I have a lot planned between this, my modular and installations with Renoise among others.. Renoise has that OSC / Midi internal server. Which is great. Easy to really connect. My ONLY PROBLEM as I can’t review the other release.. was thinking eh.. separate programs? Common. I mean, sure, BUT give us supporters and previous owners (& lovers) of the app a little break and I would buy it 100%.

Difficulty connecting to Mac/Mainstage

I found the process getting Touch OSC to work with my Mac running Mainstage very challenging and took many steps including downloading 2 other apps on my Mac to make it work.

Even then it only worked 1/2 of the time and was always quite the process to get Touch OSC to connect with Mainstage on my Mac.

Pretty and configurable, but wholly non-functional

The documentation is lacking, and I was not able to get this software working with touch bridgeOSC. Couldn’t find any recent tutorials on getting this to work, either. It’s a shame because this software has so much promise and I really want to love it, but the barrier to entry is just too high to make it worth it right now

Brilliant

This app is great for music production. Perfect for adjusting notes, articulation keyswitches and CCs in your favourite DAW via your iPad/iPhone. Takes a very logical approach to customising controls to your needs using the free OSC Editor. Very clear instructions on the Hexler website. Can easily be used for a mobile setup - just take your MacBook, iPad and some keys. Connects via USB or WiFi. Best solution I have found yet.

RUBBISH,

Utter garbage! Has to be the hardest and most complex thing to set up ever used! 5 hours of my life gone! Do not bother

Solid App, Needs Some Polish

This is an incredibly useful app. It works great for designing templates and triggering MIDI commands from a custom layout. It needs some polish though. Lots of little annoyances are present, like screen rotation issues, a clunky app interface, and a companion layout design app that has been neglected for years. Overall, I would 100% recommend this app. I just wish the developers would put a little more time into cleaning up the user experience.

I had high hopes but it’s broken

After reading some of the reviews I had high hopes for this as a control surface on my pc for Ableton and other software. However I cannot gets the OSC portion of the software to work. Core midi works just fine, but as the editor will not sync via the bridge I’m stuck with a bunch of templates that won’t work, especially for Ableton Live. Tech support is responsive but not helping with the main issue and by the looks of it I’m far from alone in it not syncing properly via OSC. If I get resolution I’ll update my review, but for now 2 stars as at least I can use a few templates in other software.

Useless with ableton

This is pretty useless with ableton, if you have the required technical knowledge you can get the scripts installed, but all the able support is very old and by directional views of things like clips playing aren’t really supported
