  • Good idea

    Update:
Does not work anymore and seemingly unmaintained. Lowering review. Time to open source?

    Original review:
    A couple of issues.

The developer site lacks an easy-to-find feedback area, so I'm leaving my bug list here.

This is an impressive logic puzzle with the caveat that it can generate non-unique solutions to puzzles. Specifically, I've run into several boards where a single-masted ship can be legally in either of two positions. (This happened on level 2, which doesn't bode well for higher levels.)

It isn't always clear when the game is over.

Fix the ui controls relating to game completed successfully, clearing the board of ships to start over with the current guesses, etc.

Without these bugs, I'd give the game 4 stars. My experience on the store is that lower ratings provide incentive to fix bugs.

  • It blows

Does not indicate when or if game is completed. Good concept but finish the software.
  • Bad game

This is super hard!I mean like when I complete a level it never let's me to the next level!also when I make my level I always have to follow the rules!oh and they also say that level three is level four.that is also weird.still I have not been playing much but it still is bad.DO NOT GET THIS GAME!NEVER!

  • Ingenious!

I've downloaded many, many games for the iPad, but this is one of my favorites. I love the multiple ways you can change the challenge of the game-- my personal favorite way to play is with three boards, making single shots. On the complexity scale this game offers, that's close to the easier side, but it makes for a very satisfying logical puzzle. Straightforward, pleasing graphics, good tutorials, and a very original expansion of the Battleship game I grew up with.

  • Challenging Puzzle Game

    Can't believe this is free....

Unlike any other "battleship" puzzle out there. VERY challenging.

The instructions are thorough and well written, but it will take several read throughs to absorb all the info found there.

This game is only for those who like to think, and think hard.

PS for the dev: why do some squares stay yellow and others don't? That's the only thing I couldn't locate in the manual....

  • Ignore the star ratings..

The reviews are heavily polarized because this really is a new type of logic puzzle, and it's quite a difficult one at that. Don't expect to pick it up and be able to understand what to do or how to do it without reading the guide. If that last sentence throws you off, you simply won't enjoy this game.

Otherwise, A+ for effort. This is exactly the type of game I want to see more of on the app store - Clean, bugfree and ridiculously difficult for reasons other than accelerometer control.

  • Beautiful thinking puzzle!

The first reviews are very well-written and say it all, I just want you to know this is a very satisfying mental exercise. There are a full range of difficulty senerios, and if you take the tutorial, you will be well rewarded!

To the developer, please add a scoring feature: I know I'm thinking better than before, so I'd like to keep track of my progress. Players might find this an additional dimension of interest.

Probably the best scoring method is simply to add a history of timings for each level (maybe the last 10 or 20). Can do? Thank you for an excellent puzzle app!!!

  • I really like this game

This is -not- the battleship game you played as a kid. It's a thinking person's puzzle game that requires careful analysis and planning to play properly and enjoy. I saw this game pop up a while ago and after reading about it and seeing a review, I was intrigued. I played the Viewer app and thought it was good fun, so I bought this one. The graphics are adequate given what you're trying to accomplish, though it does take some getting use to because at the medium and higher levels, the game is quite complex. Don't buy it if you just want to play battleship -- you'll be disappointed, but it you want to solve complex puzzles without the frustrations that come with many puzzle games, then this may be a great choice for you. Try the Viewer app first to see if you like it and spend the time going through the tutorials or you won't have a clue how to play.

  • Just what I needed!

I've grown tired of sudoku, and a French connect the dots game I've been playing has grown thin. This game is perfect! The logic needed in the upper levels of the game is intense! The instructions are pretty straight foward and the display simple and does not distract one's thoughts. This is battleship's older and smarter brother. You're not playing the captain who's sinking ships. You're playing the intelligence recon who's locating their exact locations with as few turns as possible.

  • Better than reviews

But don't know yet if I can say great. Don't expect the traditional battleship game with cool graphics. This is a logic-puzzle game with good instructions, multiple levels, and significant challenge. Haven't played enough yet to comment on it's lasting value, but give the developer a break and don't judge this by comparing it to the other battleship game.
