Perfect in Almost Every Way

I bought this app long ago, back before the 2013 Moore EF-5. It has served me so well since then. And new features keep getting added, making this app basically a portable AWIPS workstation, minus WarnGen. There’s one thing that I’d love to see added, though, and that’s the ability to set our own storm motion vectors and have velocity products calibrated to that. For people who use RadarScope for chasing, that would make it so much easier.

Other than that, this app does wonders for storm chasers who are looking for quick and easy access to site specific radar products. Oh, and the app will snap to the closest radar if you enable location. Even without custom SRV, this app gets five stars for its simplicity to use and the tools that can be had with the subscriptions.

Professional grade radar and storm tracking! 💯

This is the de facto standard app for radar and storm tracking data. Ask any storm chaser. Yes it costs money, but is so worth the cost for the features you get. I subscribe to the Level 2 data and it is perfect for my needs. High resolution reflectivity and lightning data is great to have. Refresh rates are nice and disable auto lock is handy when a huge storm is passing over. Forget the haters, probably people that don’t really understand what they are getting. This app is the real deal! 👍🏻

Don’t believe the haters

I have to laugh when I read a negative review comparing RadarScope to Weather Channel or any TV or national app. If you understand anything at all about radar products beyond “green is good, red is bad”, this app is for you. If you understand SR velocity, this app is for you. My 15yo daughter loves this app as well, tracking significant storms around the country and asking me about the precipitation and velocity products, comparing what we see with media reports in the aftermath. It’s amazing to her how we can predict how bad the damage is from what we see on radar. Ever since her grandmother was killed in a tornado a few years ago, while we watched the radar signature from miles away, she’s been a disciple. Thank you again WDT for the best weather app available. It’s well worth the investment.

Hands down-The Best Radar App

Real radar for those who need high quality radar maps. My absolute favorite weather app and totally worth the cost.

One request...the map overlay (roads, etc.) is too sparse. The weather situation can be quite different just a couple miles away (severe thunderstorm, snow-rain line, etc.). But, the nearest displayed road on the map is many miles away making it real hard to pinpoint where "the weather is."

It would be AWESOME if the developers would add functionality such that as you zoom in on the map the level of detail of roads increases.

Nice app if you can figure out the features

The app seems to be feature rich but my problem is the “User Guide”. It is hardly a guide. For example there are a series of icons across the bottom, one of which is allows you to identify where you currently are on the map. Well if you hit this a second time a small angular wedge appears and it slowly rotates around. There is nothing that I can find that tells us what this feature is doing for us. I can find nothing that describes the other icons on the base of the display.
The other support detail is thin too.
Sorry to say I need a bit more before I can pay for a Pro account much less the highest level Pro account.

Well worth the money!

I was a longtime user Weather Underground’s Storm app. After it was taken over by the Weather Channel it became just another useless radar. I searched trough all the free apps to find a similar replacement and could not. It was then that I took the plunge into paying for Radar Scope. Once I used it, I knew that I was home. This app is by far superior to any other weather radar app available on iOS! For a reasonable annual upgrade fee it gets even better. High res reflectivity, velocity and so much more is available in virtual real time

Crap

One review stated “this app is for professionals” yet it proclaims to be an effective tool for even the novice weather enthusiast. But that’s not my complaint so I digress.... my issue is I just bought this app an hour or so ago and have been looking at the app while watching the weather channel and the storms/tornado warnings in PA. The app is giving utterly and completely different information than the weather channel. The app has the tornado box/warning, several hundred miles north of what the weather channel is reporting. There are also warnings in several other places in the north east as per the tv, yet they’re absent from the app. I guess for “professionals” it’s groovy to stare at a screen with a bunch of colors, a few yellow and red boxes that are seemingly hundreds of miles away from what the actual professionals (meteorologists) are displaying... but I guess, what do they know anyway?

Best radar

The other reviewers are right-- this is the best radar and well worth the cost. I had purchased several others and put off this one because of the price. The other apps disappointed-- they have been inaccurate or slow to update. This one is precise and quick--so far is has never been more than a minute or two before it updates and most often it is up to the moment. And the accuracy has been brilliant. It has many features that I have not yet used, but i hope to learn them soon. I'm a weather novice, but I definitely want to know where the storms are, where they're going, and how much rain we'll get. This is the best radar by far!
Update: the developer keeps refining an already brilliant application. This is THE radar application, far superior to any other out there. Absolutely one of the best purchases I've ever made for my iOS devices—beautiful on the iPad, crucial app on the phone, and a very informative glance at the radar on the watch.
I bought the upgraded pro version and like the additional features: longer loops and lightening info. As with the basic version of this app, the cost is there but well worth it: this radar and all the features are the some of the best things on my phone. One of the top apps of any kind and one I will subscribe to without hesitation every year.

Best what is happening now weather app

If you want to know what’s happening right now with the best graphics, this is the best app. I would also use in with conjunction with Dark Sky. Dark Sky is great for what will happen in the future but the colors for DS aren’t the best. This app has been invaluable to me knowing exactly where the clouds are and where they’re going. Once I was traveling without a coat and it was raining REALLY hard. I noticed on here the severe storm only had a little more to go and then would be clear after. I ducked in for dinner and I knew I was good. You don’t need the extra super duper upgrades but I upgraded to the first tier since it’s fun to see the lightning. It is also nice that it shows the severe weather warnings and outlines exactly where the warning is for.

Great Customer Service

Had an issue with my subscription and their response time when I emailed them was great! And responses as we emailed back and forth were quick and easy to understand. Have been using the program for a couple of years and have been happy with it. After today, with the help I received, I am even happier!
