All Versions of Hurricane Tracker

5.1

- We are introducing active storm widgets! No more opening the app to see if there are active systems. See this information right on your home screen! Small widget - will display up to 4 storm types. When there are active systems, this widget will only display storm types with active storms. When there are no active storms, it will display 4 storm categories (hurricanes, tropical storms, depressions & invests) showing "0" storms. Medium widget - will always display up the 5 storm types even if they are "0". Widgets will automatically refresh and pull the latest storm counts from the server. Widgets will also update when you launch the app. When you tap on a widget, you will be taken to the "Current Storms" section of the app to view information on active storms. Storm types with active systems will animate and show the number of active storms within each storm type. The number represents how many active systems there currently are within that storm type. For example, if "hurricanes" is showing a "1" then that means there is one active hurricane we are tracking. The storm types are hurricanes (red), tropical storms (orange), depressions (green), potential tropical cyclones (blue), and invests (teal). Note: Due to limited space within the small widget, it will only show up to 4 storm types at once. The medium widget will always show the status of all 5 storm types. Widgets will display Atlantic or Eastern Pacific storm counts based on your "default basin settings" located in the settings panel of the app. - Bug fixes

Reviews of Hurricane Tracker

  • Best Hurricane information to be found in any one place.

As stated this is the very best hurricane information available to be found in one place. Purchasing Premium is very recommended as well.
Anyone living in Florida or along the Gulf Coast should definitely have this app on their iPhone or iPad.

I do have one request of the programmers. I use the desktop widget and I have noticed twice in this hurricane season that when there are 2 or more storms out there, and the NHC stops reporting one of the storms, you also stop but the desktop widget keeps right on reporting 2 storms when there is only 1 being tracked. I have found the only way to force it to decrement is to remove and reinstall the app. Can you work on this issue?
  • Great, reliable app

The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because the in-depth charts about wind shear are really difficult to derive any understanding about whether hurricane risk is mitigated or elevated. But if you watch the models closely during every threat, you start to get a pretty good idea where the hurricane might be headed. With Irma in 2017, the models didn’t help a lot, but with Ian in 2022, I had reason to believe it was going to hit Ft. Meyers several days in advance, even though the cone of uncertainty shifted quite a bit north, then back south during the days preceding landfall. It will be interesting to see what effect AI will have on hurricane model accuracy.
  • Good app, but some details need attention

In general, I really like the app, so I use it regularly. It is very helpful when one lives near the Gulf Coast. Suggestions:
    1. Once one has paid for a premium subscription, it would help if the app would stay logged in.
    2. I tend to check specific graphics among the choices. It would help if I could change the display order accordingly.
    3. Many of the graphics are superimposed on a map outline, but it’s often difficult to see the map through the other graphics and colors.
