  • Works as advertised

Awesome program... one of the reasons I got an iphone. Timers are easy to set up and use. Works well for a number of purposes including at the gym, work or around the house. Works well with ipod and I have found no glitches. Cannot easily use with other apps like a fitness trackers but that is Apple’s fault. Wish there were a few more alarm options but, this does not detract from the product I am just picky about sounds.

  • Does Everything for a Fitness Instructor

Does everything that I wanted. I set up a 3-2-1 course. It starts with a 5 minute warmup, followed by 8 intervals of 3mins, 2mins and 1mins and then ends with a 5 minute cooldown. It took me less than five minutes to figure out all the features and get the whole timer set up. Excellent app that I would recommend to anyone looking for a timer flexible enough to handle whatever is needed.

  • Now the ultimate timer app

With version 2.1 this is a truly solid and versatile timer app. I use it to create high intensity interval training workouts. The built-in sounds are solid and very easy to hear, especially with a recent update that pauses audio during the sound. And you can even create your own sounds which lets you give yourself audible prompts. Nice! The developers really listen to user feedback, as evidenced by the version 2.1 update to re-enable screen locking support so you can do your workout with the device on you without worrying about tapping the display. Nice job guys!

  • Does not function correctly when locked

If the screen is locked the timer stops working. This means that you have to leave the screen on all the time doing this makes the battery run out fast. This in my opinion makes this thing useless. I recommend not buying this until the developers fix this feature. If not for this one feature this would be a great product.

  • Perfect for stretching

Better than expected. Got it set up in 5 minutes. Use it for timing yoga stretches with a few secs in between to get into next position. Favorite features: variety of volume-adjustable subtle sounds, portrait / landscape display, keeps screen illuminated during countdown, auto pause with incoming calls. Finally, I do not have to reset a timer after every stretch!

  • 4 3/4 Stars one thing missing

I so wanted to give this 5 stars, but it is missing on thing for me..... a countdown timmer to the stat of a routine. It would be awesome if there was a countdown timer that could be set so that you had time to get into position for the start of your routine. For example there is a routine I am starting that uses Tabata intervals; the first excersise in jump rope. By the time that I start the timer and get the jump rope in position to start jumping the first 20 seconds is just about over. I would live to be able to set the initial countdown timer so that i had a few seconds to get into position fior my first excersise.

  • Perfect for CrossFit!

I was about to do the CrossFit Endurance WOD today and then thought that I had better check iTunes for an app of some kind that would make it easier for me to be made aware of my intervals (you know, instead of looking down at my watch every half second). The WOD today is a 5-30 sec pathways WOD and it would be a huge pain to look down at my watch for this. This app is perfect, simple, yet effective. It comes with 4 prepared timers, one of which (the most important in my opinion) is a tabata timer. You can easily program your own timers too, as is the case w/the 5-30 WOD. What's great is that if you are doing your workouts in an atmosphere that makes it difficult to hear your alarms, you can set colors to them for a visual cue. All in all, I am extremely pleased w/this app! Now, time to hit that WOD! 3, 2, 1, GO!!!!

  • Great for irregular interval training

A very intuitive program that is really going to aid my workouts. The program needs a copy and paste feature for repeating a single interval without repeating the whole workout. It took me over 40 mins to program a full (1 hour) workout routine with breaks and irregular intervals. I program in all of my warm up, workout, and stretching exercises including the rest in between sets. The UltraTimer also crashed quite a few times while I was setting it up. With an update, this will be a great help for me in the gym and by far the best timer app! Great update!! Now I will give it 5 stars. Great job with the copy/paste!

  • 2.0 Upgrade brings attractive new look, but music muting is a mistake.

I use UltraTimer on an almost daily basis either by myself or with my trainer. It has become an essential tool in my fitness program. The new look in Version 2.0 is excellent, much cleaner than before. I would only suggest that the set number appear in larger print as determining what set you are on from a few feet away can be difficult. The decision to mute music when sounding the alarm is more problematic. It detracts from the music and is extremely jarring. During a 4 minute Tabata set, music is muted 16 times so why play it at all! Muting should at a minimum be a preference. And speaking of music, why not take advantage of OS 3.0's ability to allow apps to select playlists and control music directly from within the app? This would be a super addition to UltraTimer, and coupled with eliminating music muting allow me to add a couple of stars to my rating.

  • Love the new version!

I've been using this for cardio interval workouts for a few months. The new version lets you pause on the screen--very handy. I also like the LARGE numbers counting down on the screen now-- no looking for reading glasses to see how much time is left.
