Fabulous tool!

I love Yammer! I work in a very specific role in a department store and months can go past without contact with my counterparts in other branches. But with Yammer we can keep in touch. We share photos of our work, post achievements and can throw a question out there knowing someone will jump in with suggestions. Invaluable.

Barely Usable

Sadly my employer has closed all in house forum discussions and migrated to Yammer so I am forced to use this to communicate with colleagues. It's appalling, the lag whilst typing frequently causes errors. It's slow to load initially and to switch between discussions and it's prone to freezing, usually when you have just spent 15 minutes formulating an incisive post. Said freeze precludes posting or even pasting the text so it's lost. Hate it. Recent updates have not improved the experience. It’s latest version is slightly better but not much. It also keeps bugging me to leave reviews.

Takes the place of the dreaded “all staff emails”

Yammer is a great tool that my company uses very effectively by giving a platform for conversation, file sharing and company updates without an inbox full of all staff emails. Easy to use and efficient, Yammer, when used appropriately saves time and gives a platform for staff wide conversations and file sharing.

More than a social media platform

I love the fact that you can easily customise a page with links, not just to otherYammer pages but to web or SharePoint pages. It’s great for announcements & you can add documents & use it for your stakeholders to easily jump to other information sources from pages you create.

Awesome

It’s great! You can’t access files or notes from the app, but the app is nice to have available to use when you’re away from the computer and need to stay connected.

Good app for basics but bugs

The app is good for seeing latest posts but it’s not as good as desktop. I frequently get notification counts that are different to the notifications (eg red 2 blob but only 1 unread message or like). The feed doesn’t show everything unlike desktop feed. It was fiddly switching between networks. The ‘groups’ section shows unread messages but then says I have read everything.
But if you want to keep up on-the-go the app is worth it.

Good way of sharing things at work without clogging inboxes

Definitely a good way for people to find out what's going on in the organisation and stay on top of interesting articles and events at leisure, rather than the immediacy of email. Only draw back is sometimes syncing is slow and occasionally important things get lost (ie misunderstanding)
But overall good

Small fixes needed but great platform overall

Need to be able to access files from the app as well as the desktop. Badge app icons and notifications are inconsistent and not always reliable when there are new postings to groups. Other than those small fixes, it has been a wonderful communication tool and resource.

Yammer is the glue that connects our global multinational

Yammer is great. We connect the dots between all our different offices and departments. Obviously content is king - and Yammer gives us the platform to publish, develop, share, connect, and discuss.

Great for school projects!

So, my class is reading this book you’ve probably heard of, The Giver, and we discuss the book every four chapters or so. I just started Yammer today, but I think it’s great so far! It’s good for starting discussions and asking questions about books, and it has many other functions as well!
