  • Scans barcodes! (ver. 2.2)

Updated to 2.2. Added scanning of barcodes using "Occipital" engine of "Redlaser" fame is totally sweet. Haven't scanned but a couple which it found perfectly, just had to choose vintage (wineries often reuse codes from past years). Soon I will be down in cellar scanning my way to organizational OCD bliss. All my wines will be posted to CellarTracker website. This is SO flipping awesome. I'll never be able to sleep tonight! This app is SO far ahead of its time. Developers should be elected to congress to fix healthcare immediately, or knighted, or worshiped as small idols on the table in my cellar. All this for freakin $3.99! OMGosh... Anybody got a picture of these guys so I can begin construction of the shrine? I am just giddy.

  • Lots of potential – but I’m disappointed...(this is version 1.0.3)

I'm a huge fan of Cellar Tracker. The idea of bringing the immense database and functionality of that site to my Touch was VERY attractive. However, in light of all of the potential, I find the App lacking. On the plus side: --I can search the database (lots of sort options available) --I can view my cellar previously created on the CT site (also lots of sort options available) On the down side: --none of the reviews on cellar tracker are viewable when ones searches --only a fraction of the wine data (sub region/appellation etc) featured on CT is not shown here --Once found, I cannot add the wine to my cellar (?!) Now there are lots of other things one can do on CT that I could understand the app not yet encompassing (actually leaving your own notes, linking up with friends, adding specific data once you "drink" the wine from your cellar for example), but the three things listed above seem like pretty basic pieces of functionality to me. I really hope this app is still being developed. It's a great first stab. The link to CT is such an advantage in my opinion over the other apps out there (and for this I'll give it 3 stars instead of 2). But as it stands, this app could be making this built in advantage work much more so than it currently is.

  • Good, but some bugs remain to be fixed

I've been an avid Cellartracker user for a while, so this app is the ideal companion. Or should be. There are still bugs or functionalities that remain to be fixed. For instance, when browsing my cellar by varietal, why are only the most popular varietals displayed? Why can't I browse Malbecs, Chenin Blancs or Viogniers, since Cellartracker can sort all my bottles by varietals, including the most obscure ones? Same problem with region browsing: somehow I can't even select Rhône or some Spanish regions, since most likely an accented character bug prevents them to be displayed correctly - this is an unacceptable bug for a 5-dollar app. All in all, this is a good app with a very nice interface, but it has bugs in urgent need of fixing.

  • Has Potential

Been looking for an app like this and this is certainly the best one out there. However: - - Reviews don't display correctly. I can only see the first three or four and then can not scroll further down the list. - My wishlist from cellartracker can not be viewed. Only wines I own. I like having a list of wines I like, not just those I own at a particular time. - Doesn't seem to be any way to add a wine from the app to cellartracker. You seem to have to exit the app, fire up safari, go to cellartracker and then add a wine you like / own which seems a major hassle. - Twitter integration is nice. Facebook integration would be awesome. Keep up the good work. Will up my rating when a few of the above are fixed / added.

  • Finally! Great App for Cellartracker Users!

As a devoted Cellartracker user, I finally got my most valuable iPhone app! Functionality is very good, and I like the graphics too. The "drink" button allows you to take your iPhone to your cellar and remove inventory on the spot. As others state, a wealth of info at your fingertips while wine shopping. Suggestions: 1) Add the ability to adjust inventory (add bottles, add new wines) so you can use the iphone as inventory management while in your cellar or at the store. 2) Add the Cellartracker "tasting notes" ticker (there's an RSS feed already) so you can keep up on the latest notes for your wines. 3) Custom reports/views.

  • Looks great and it's super easy.

first a disclosure : i designed this app for Applied Ambiguities LLC The app is great. It's great to look at but more importantly it works great and it's easy to use. I enjoyed the simple transitions and the editorial content (especially since I'm a wine novice). It's pretty snappy as well except for the the view all items option - but liked that you warn me that it may be slow due to the number of results. All in all I think it's a great app which I as a wine novice enjoy. One request : coulda have an editorial item recommending a wine for dinner parties? Like if I'm going to a dinner party and I want to spend no more then $20 what the best Red / White / etc... would be. Thanks!
