  • Great Chess Update!!

Wow!! This is now a complete chess package! The encyclopedia of chess openings is good to master the intricacies and wrinkles of the chess system. I found this really awesome! All the things you need for a pocket chess buddy is here!

The last update made the chess engine play better with it's level 12 difficulty. But still can compete with Chess Genius. On the other hand, it can beat Caissa Chess anytime. It calculate a move faster than any other chess programs on the iPhone/iPod platform. Looking forward for a more stronger chess engine in the next update!! Please include new board designs!!

  • Excellent

Very flexible, from levels which suit beginners to enthusiastic amatuers such as myself and above. Level 5 of 12 is around my level assuming I don't use cheats such as take back. Edit position is very useful for young beginners where, for example, the computer can be made to play without queen! The simple 2D board is better than 3D (used on some other chess apps on this platform) and is very playable. I would recommend to any enthusiast wishing to improve their game.

  • The best Chess app

Hi, I'm Jordan and I think that out of all the curent chess apps for the iphone, this is the best. :)
  • Best Chess App So Far

Normally I take a chess set whenever I go on any long journeys but using the app, I no longer have to bother. The day the App Store was announced I've been waiting for a chess engine rather than just a chess playing program and finally we have one in this program. It means I can go over games from newspapers, magazines or even my own new ideas whenever I go out and have a solid chess program checking my analysis in the background. Good fun for a semi-serious amateur like myself. Although not the main reason for my purchase, it also plays a good game too. On the top level it gives a good enough challenge for a quick Blitz game and I suspect it would be even stronger if I let it use the fixed move time limit rather than just the level settings. A possible improvement would be the option to display more than one line of analysis although I know it would be hard to fit this all on screen. Perhaps a scroll bar showing the top 3 moves would be possible. Also it took me a little while to get use to the evaluation scoring. Most other chess engines gives all scores in terms of white (plus score = white winning, negative score = black winning). It can be a little confusing at first for the sign to keep switching as you go through a line of analysis.

  • I like this app a lot

No crashes, plays chess, knows the rules (always a plus!). There's no 3D view which I think is a good thing. It is easy to step back and forward to figure out how exactly you got into the mess you currently are. Multiple saved games works a treat. I like playing chess and have had the Chess app on my mac for years and hardly ever touched it - this one on the iPhone is quite addictive though.
