  • Cannot handle large JPEG or PNG files

I used this app for years, and it runs well. But over the years, I got more and more comic books with high quality digital files. In which, the JPEG files have a resolution of around 6000 x 4000 pixels. And this app cannot handle them. It is pity.
  • One of the better ones out there

I've used this app for quite a few years and it has served me well. It could do with a little revamping in terms of newer features, and maybe make managing favorites a little better (exporting, marking favorite while viewing, etc).

I use it for viewing various comics in archives where I mark my favorites and review those months later.
I don't use all the features of the app so I can't say much on the rest of it.

  • A trusty, old pal...!

Sure, updates happen at a relaxed schedule, but major kudos to the author for keeping this app alive after all these years.

  • Useless

    Doesn't work. Avoid.
  • Great manga reader

I don't buy apps often so whenever I do, I make sure I get the best one. iComic is one of my most used apps on the iPad and the best manga reader I've found so far. It's also always being updated, which i think is great and something i consider when purchasing apps.
  • The BEST!!

The best comic book reader ever!
The only wish for the developer is about the app icon.
Please make icon image Retina-friendly. Fuzzy book boundary in the app icon looks not so cool.
  • Light, full-featured comic reader

The Dropbox integration is nice to have, and works well.

I really love iComic and have been using it for years, first on an iPod Touch, and now an iPad. I've tried some of the alternatives, but I fail to see why a CBZ reader should be over 15MB in size, when iComic does everything I need and comes in at 1.1MB.

Transferring files via iTunes is easy enough, but I most frequently use FTP, either with FileZilla in Windows or OSX, or in Linux I just connect over FTP directly from the Nautilus file manager - very easy! If there's a feature I'd like, it would the ability to use FTP from iComic to pull down files from a server, rather than just pushing from a PC to iComic.

I've noticed that the app does now support CBR files, but only files using a more recent version of RAR compression. I haven't investigated which version it is. The files open with a blank "read error!" page, and the next page will be enlarged, but just pinch it back down to size and the rest of the file displays as normal.

For older CBR files I use the cbr2cbz.py script to batch convert anything I want to read in iComic.

  • Dropbox support makes it much easier to use.

Now I don't need to connect to my PC every time to copy new comics anymore. Also no need to worry about the limited storage space on my phone.
  • awesome app

Solid app that is easy to use and fully functional compared to other manga readers. I also love that the author updates app regularly with major improvements! Worth much more then the $.99
