  • Very upset with recent update.

When I first downloaded the lite version, I was very happy with the pronunciation, so I immediately purchased the full app. I have two problems with the most recent update. The first issue is that the original voice got replaced. I don't mind that the woman's voice is now a man's voice. I'm just very upset that now the pronunciation is totally off. Cantonese is my first language, so I would know. I bought this app to brush up my reading ability. My second complaint is that after updating the app, my full version is now back to a lite version. Maybe I should have purchased the full version through the AppStore instead of through the lite version. There should be a warning letting people know not to update the full version if it's purchased through the lite version. Is there a way to uninstall the update?

Update: After over two months of not using the app because I was furious with the issues that the last update has, I decided to give the app another try. Now I'm ever madder than before because I just noticed that some traditional characters are now simplified! Please put out a new update to fix all these problems! As for now, lite and full version 2.3 are not worth downloading. Until the tones and pronunciation are corrected, this app won't teach people to speak Cantonese accurately.

  • Limited

OK but limited. It's only day 3 for me but already one word had an incorrect tone indicator.
  • Horrid pronunciation

This app fails at its most basic task. The speaker cannot even pronounce a single Cantonese word correctly!! I am not sure if there is even a real person speaking since the diction is so stilted and unnatural...At least I didn't have to pay for this piece of junk so I can use it for entertainment.

  • Not very effective

This has limited word selection, as there's only one word a day. On one day, it had "skype" as a feature word. From English to Cantonese, it was exactly the same, so what's the point? I'd recommend a different app like lingopal instead
  • Very poor pronunciation. I want my money back

I downloaded the free wordpower lite hoping this will help him to learn Cantonese but accidentally upgraded it to a full version. That is fine but the pronunciation in this app is terrible. It either pronounces the words totally wrong or it sounds like that it is spoken by a person who has problem with his pronunciation. I certainly don't want my son to learn cantonese from this. No body does. When I went in the app store to find this app cantonese wordpowerlite to put in a complaint and request for refund I found the app Cantonese wordpower which I believed it is the full version of Cantonese wordpowerlite. So I clicked on it and navigate to find the page to in my complaint. It asked me to get a copy before I can put in a comments. I thought I have already downloaded this I might just re-download it again. Afterward I found out they are two different app while the contents are exactly the same. Now I not only have to request one refund but two.

  • So this is Cantonese?

Ok I have to admit I have not studied Cantonese ever, and I only got this because it was on the app list... but it seems good! I willupdate this review once I get a little more run time with this.
  • Wow Cantonese is HARD!

So I was interested in learning some cantonese... and boy is it hard! One of the hardest parts is the tones, and trust me when I say there are enough to make your tongue sore. Having this application to help me sort out the tones, has been invaluable. Though for me this is just for personal use and amusement, I am sure this application would of great value to even students of Cantonese. If anything this application will get you comfortable with the tones! A Must get in my personal opinion!
