  • Marvelous! Now about that iPad version...

It is difficult to capture in words just how much fun this app is to use. I work in a neuroimaging lab and after showing this off at a meeting I had to fight to get my phone back.

I would love to see vascular structures and cranial nerves as others have noted (and that Cerebrii has) but for pure neurological joy, nothing beats this snappy, intuitive interface.

Mad props to you Rainer Goebel. I hope you can find time to develop an iPad version.

  • Oops...one little problem

Please double check the locations of BA 41 and BA 42 in the slice views. It seems that they are being displayed on the frontal lobes instead of the temporal lobes where they belong. (Interestingly, the 3D surface view seems to have it right). Thanks
  • There is a better way!

Question: Why rely on MRI images, which have a pretty awful resolution?

Answer: Because they are cheap (basically free for anyone with any access to a data bank) and easy to put together.

There is a similar app called ‘3D brain’ that I think is far superior. It is not based on MRI images, and is therefore much easier to navigate.

  • Disappointing

The '3D Brain' app by Cold Springs Labs is much better. Admittedly, I didn't play around with this much but the alternative was much more enchanting.
  • Soso

I found it hard to use. Didn't like it
  • Brain Tutor 3D

Extraordinary 3D visualization of real brain CT images. Quick, easy to use, remarkably smooth rotational capacity. A great learning tool, even for seasoned clinicians!
  • UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the coolest apps on my iPod, but you guys need to get with the times and make it fully compatible with OS 3.0

Otherwise, it's an extremely useful tool for hs, college, med school students, and the curious science nerd.

Update and.... Add a quiz feature, and we'll be happy
  • amazing!

i'm a neuroscience professor, and i'm blown away at the functionality and completeness of this app! i've recommended it to my students. great job. of course, if you're looking to expand it, there are many directions you could go with incorporating more data about the brain...
  • Chapeau!

This definetly showcases the power of the iPhone / iPod Touch, and what portable computing can be at it's best. Kudos on an amazing tool for students in neuroscience.
  • OS 3.0 Issue

I really hope they update this for iPhone OS 3.0 soon. The app is still mostly functional, but you can no longer select a particular structure to highlight in the 3D images. This is a very nice app, especially for free, and will still work on a 3.0 device, but I really miss that one broken feature.
