Proloquo2Go AAC User Reviews

Top reviews

great for experienced AAC users!

as somebody who uses AAC mostly full time I have been really enjoying proloquo2go. there are a lot of ways to personalize your AAC. this includes voices, display, layout, colors, what the app speaks to give some examples. it is very customizeable which i like a lot. there is also a history function and typing function which i really like a lot! that sort of leads to some of the issues i have. there is a big learning curve in navigation and learning how to customize things was very difficult and frustrating for me, even having prior experience with picture based apps. so i wouldn't reccomend to first time AAC users especially if you aren't full-time. the new voices update sounds weird too. there's a grating breathy quality to them that's been really bothering me and i think it ironically has made some of the voices less clear sounding. there's now weird blip sounds on some words/noises that are startling. for the most part though, really solid selection of voices. that's another thing i've really liked a lot. overall a very good AAC. i would reccommend something less complex to first time AAC users, but if you have more experience and want to upgrade to something more robust proloquo2go is a very good choice.

Hi and thank you for not only the high rating you have given the app but also for taking the time to provide such a comprehensive review. With so many options to customize, we understand it can be a lot when you are first setting up the app. We have tried to make the setup process as simple as possible for new users and the less you customise the default layout, the simpler it is. We also have lots of free resources in the Support section of our website which give illustrated step by step instructions for many of these processes. These can also be accessed within the app Options. The new voices are the neural voice updates which are supposed to make the voices sound more lifelike. We licence these voices from Acapela and we are passing feedback on to them. Thank you again for your positive and detailed review and please know you can email us with questions or feedback any time at support@assistiveware.com.

NO HELP AVAILABLE

The training videos are NOT matching up with what this program is doing on my iPad. I even had two “Apple Heads” try and help me, and they have no idea why this is not working. So, then I go to contact someone to walk me through this process, AND NO PHONE NUMBER IS AVAILABLE FOR ASSISTANCE!!!!!!

This means I am going to have to email what the problem is without knowing what the problem is for me to then to have to email each step back and forth when I run into additional problem to wait for up to 3 DAYS for a response that could or could not work for me to have to send another email message to wait for another response.

I wish I had never bought the iPad or this program! I am angry that there is no one to help me when I need help!!!!

I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties getting started with the app. We did get your email and responded within hours, but, as of right now, we have not heard back from you. Perhaps you're trying to implement the advice? We have a support team working 7-days a week, and we commit to working with you in a timely manner to resolve any issues. If you find describing the problem in writing difficult, perhaps you can submit a screen recording or a voice memo to us. We would really appreciate the opportunity to assist you in setting up Proloquo2Go and getting you up and running. Irene @ AssistiveWare

Family sharing

I just spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple to try to resolve the issue but was told it was the developers choice to not allow Apple family sharing. That being said I’m appalled. My son is 6. This isn’t a game or even a toy, this is HIS communication to those around him. If it’s about the money, sick.

Communication is key!

This app is really helping our nonverbal twins let us know what they want and need. If your thinking about this app just get it. My only advice, fight the urge to bypass the app. Our default for a while was playing hot cold nonverbally with pointing and head shaking. This app is so much less frustrating for everyone! Also, everyone should be familiar with the app, It helps when working with your children.

Excellent AAC app!

My son has Autism and is nonverbal and this app is how he communicates with us and his therapists! We used a Velcro pecs book but it’s hard to continuously make card with Velcro, so his bcba suggested looking into a device. We went with an iPad and bought this app for it, so the iPad is only used for speaking. I love the app because you can customized buttons with irl photos or photos from google instead of drawings, the pictures that the app has though are great and we use about 70% of them! He is 1 year into using the app full time and has made so much growth! The app seems confusing at first glance, but once you get use to it it’s easier to navigate. There was a period where my child would be confused where things are on there, but after letting him just explore the buttons and push whatever he wants he has found buttons I didn’t even know existed ha! The app is geared toward growing with whoever is using it. I’m so thanking for proloquotogo!
The price is steep, and it was a hard pill to swallow having to drop that much on an app, but I promise it’s worth it seeing your child be able to communicate!!
