  • It's about time!

I have been using FirstClass for 10 years now and first class mobile for a good many as well. I have always been very disappointed by the mobile app as it does not provide the productivity or functionality you would expect from a Company/program of this nature. I would have described the old FirstClass app as just barely functional. I noticed that they updated the web client which looks really good and was hoping they would improve on the app as well, which they did. The look is a lot better and cleaner, and it appears to of gotten a well needed overhaul. I just hope that you listen to comments and squash bugs as they are found because the response rate of this company to problems in the past has been pretty sluggish overall...

  • Thousands of users deserve better

I've been using this app for 2 years now. I need it for work, so I deal with it. But it is embarrassingly problematic. I've lost two drafts today because while writing an email I (1) received a phone call, and then, when writing it the second time, (2) jumped over to my photos to make sure I had the right info. Boom. Gone.
And this isn't even close to the first time that's happened, as you can see from other reviews.
It logs you out randomly, asks for your password even though it's saved, won't refresh sometimes (so I have to log out and back in)....I could go on. This is an embarrassment to a company that provides email, in my school district alone, to tens of thousands of employees. Please fix it!

  • Glitchy

    Update***
Glitches gone but still a pain to use! Why offer the ability to save a password if you have to input it EVERY TIME you login? Furthermore, if you are typing an email and the program sits idle for a minute or two (say while getting a bite of food), you are timed out, have to login again, and none of your work is saved. The entire email is gone! This does not happen with the program itself, just the app. Even though the previous glitches have been fixed, I'll stick to my one star review for now.

I need this app in order to communicate with my work while off site, unfortunately this app doesn't work well. It does not connect over any kind of wifi. If you do magically get it to connect it knocks you off of the network and will cease to function, thus leaving you in the hands of your data plan. When you use an app as much as I need to use this one, you expect it to work well, especially over a wifi connection.

  • Title bar not helping

Looks are nice; I understand where the developers were going on this, but… the word 'Mailbox' is tiny, thus, my fat fingers can't hit 'Mailbox' consistently. I now have a FirstClass 'game'. Let's see how many times it take me to successfully tap 'Mailbox' without always going back to the login screen, or open my icon below 'Mailbox'.

I, also, can't access the top row of the icons because they are being cut off. My work around is to send me an email, which will then push the top email down to where I can access it. Eventually, I'll need to delete all of the emails I sent to myself. Or, maybe I can forward them on to the developers! That would be cool!! :)

  • Horrible App for Bad Software

This app is terrible. I only use it for email and the address book and it fails even there, with so many simple features missing. It's disturbing how little design sense went into this app. It's clunky and lacks basics. It also crashes sometimes, other times the buttons go missing. Switch to a different app and when you come back, half the time it has disconnected and is flashing red so you have to step back out of the app and logout. It can't add a new mail list. You can't see who's ON a mail list. You can't send email as high priority. You can't mark an email unread or flag it. The list goes on and on. The simple solution would be to make it easy for users to add an account on the device that would collect email, but the server setup is too complicated for my school to do that.
This software is clearly on the decline anyway, but it's annoying to have to use this crappy app while waiting for our school to change to a better system than FirstClass.

  • Atrocious!!

BUGS, BUGS, BUGS! Can't view certain custom made templates still. It's been over a year and this issue still has not been fixed. iPhone 5 compatibitly is a JOKE. Even with Notification Center and Push settings turned OFF, I still get random notifications constantly at the lock screen of Junk\Spam or E-mail that's weeks old that has already been read. If you go to slide the icon badge to unlock your phone to be sent directly into the app, you still have to type in your password and when you do, the notifications you just received disappear. Nothing in you inbox or Junk Folder, as if they were deleted automaticallly upon logging in or something. Uninstalled and sprayed phone with Open Text Developer repellent!

  • Okay, but hastily done...

OpenText could have spent a bit more time on this app. Some suggestions:

Customize the desktop order of icons.

    Push notifications.

A layered mailbox, for sorting threads, like in the pc and mac versions.

    A "who's online" icon/ tab.

Automatic login and keeping you logged in -- allows for the push notifications. (however, maybe the security of the firstclass servers prevents this)

This app would be a whole lot better if they hadn't left so many main features of the desktop client.

but it works fine and lets you log in. I see quite a few reviews on here complaining that they can't log in, and that is not the app's fault. I see people complaining that they cannot print, but that feature has yet to be released to the ENTIRE APP STORE because apple likes to keep a grip on what hardware the iPod and iPhone and iPad are compatible with.

and logging in isn't so time consuming once you find the menu where you can check "remember login info"

  • Needs some improvement.

I have had this app for a long time. Thanks FirstClass! Anyways, I had few problems with this app, despite the others saying it is very bad and cant work for them. Im not sure why its good fo some users, and really crappy for others. Anyways, it crashes at least once every week for me. A little annoying, but it still is a problem. Then theres this problem with the notifications. It is very crappy. I hardly notice I got new mail UNTIL I CHECK IT. Please fix that. Another problem is that the badges that we can turn off in the notifications, well, that doesnt work either. I would recommend that you all be patient... If you are not, well, ok. The app is glitchy, but not for me. Anyways, you should probably listen to the reviews. Dont download this app until another update.

  • poor forwarding and locks up my Iphone

The company I work for uses this as the main form of electronic communication. I'm on call 24/7 and part of my responsibility is to respond to emails regarding customer service issues after normal business hours. Until recently....possibly the last two updates..... I'd recieve this email to my phone almost the same instant it hit my computer> Now it takes upwards of an hour for me to be notified....not sure if it's a push issue or what... but please look into it.

Also, as much as 25% of the time, clicking on a conferance will lock up the app and the only remedy is to reboot my Iphone....

    This needs some work.

  • Poor excuse for mobile support.

The worst part about this app is it's very own existence. This app is terrible, in that it maintains its own calendar, contacts and email and is a band aid around the fact that they refuse to have adequate support for mobile devices.

I own an iPad, iPhone, MacBook Air and iPod Touch. That I have to use this client to interact with my company is a shame. They don't support push email through active sync unlike every other major vendor. Their IMAP support is horrible, and can't synchronize sent items among other notable failures. So I'm stuck having this app installed everywhere, with a calendar and contacts separate from my personal one, and an inbox that is separate from my regular inbox.

Also, the interface is great, if you like BBS systems from 1991.
