Best dictionary app I’ve ever used
I can load up my old electronic dictionary EPWING files and search them all at once, and copy text from them too. 5/5
I’m all the more amazed this exists since I seem to recall that all the EPWING readers on PC use a single bug ridden closed source x86 32bit Windows DLL that hasn’t been updated since the 90’s, yet this app can open every dictionary I throw at it, on 64bit ARM, and without a single crash or bug so far.

No Family Share Allowed. A Wrong Description.
The developer stated clearly at his site that the family share is disabled and he does not think he need it allowed. Either the developer or Apple is responsible for managing the product description accurately. It is a very basic principle of a seller.
I think Apple has to clean up family share description across apps. It so very misleading and if so it would be better to disable family share all across and not to show it on app description.
Additionally the dictionary file import process description seems to be somewhat outdated. Using iCloud should be the first option.
So all in all the developer has to make more serious efforts to make those items as updated and accurate as possible as long as it is sold as a paid app.

Very useful
This is the only dictionary I know of that can read EPWING format. For that I'm pretty grateful it exists. It is one of my most used dictionaries. It needs a little polish (e.g. it doesn't tell you under what entry a search result is found) however I overlook that considering how useful it is overall.

A really incredible app!
EBPocket is one of a kind, as another reviewer wrote. This app is an indispensable tool when translating between Japanese & English. I disagree that the customization options are unnecessary and awkward. I feel that the more preferences an app has, the better you can tailor it to your liking. I especially like the complete control over the interface color scheme and font selection. I would however like to see finer control over the font size. There is a slider bar to select the size, but the predefined buttons only offer the most common even sizes. Perhaps a numerical display could be added to show the exact size when using the slider?
As an example of its usefulness, there are several apps available which provide a current copy of Eijirō. I bought my own copy of the Eijirō dictionary, and created an Epwing version of it using Freepwing that I use in this app. I have not yet tried using the pre-formatted PDIC versions of the 4 dictionaries provided with the Eijirō purchase, but I believe from the help section that they should work just fine.
The only real gripe I have with this app is in fact the help section, which is located in the preferences pane. The help section appears to be very large and comprehensive, including screenshot images of key features. Unfortunately, the help section is written in Japanese only. Not having a bilingual help section is a major oversight in an otherwise very useful app. For example, it is not really clear how to set up an additional web search, but this may be completely covered in the help. Overall, I give EBPocket 5 stars unconditionally.
