Description of Venus Atlas

Explore the hidden surface of Venus Venus Atlas is an astronomy application that lets you use pinch and finger gestures to manipulate a 3D globe of Venus. The map is shown in false color representing the topography. This surface is sadly not visible from Earth due to the constant cloud cover on Venus. As you zoom in more labels appear as finer detail comes into view. You can double tap on the labels to get more information about a particular feature. Venus Atlas also displays the phase of Venus and calculates other attributes from your chosen location and time. The feature database is searchable and can move the globe to a searched feature. Date, time and location can be changed. There is also a realtime mode that will update to the current time. The Venus globe can be shown with north or south at the top or inverted. Over 2000 named features are included as well as 17 spacecraft that reached the surface of Venus. You can swipe left and right on the phase view to go backwards and forwards a day. Moon. Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn atlases are also available on the App Store! Also there is Planisphere, a star charting app, available on the App Store!

Reviews of Venus Atlas

An Atlas and a Work of Art!

Everyone can enjoy all of these atlases as works of art as well as reliable references. They are easy to use and fill the needs of astronomers of all ages. They are well worth the modest fee. It’s an investment in program improvements, and hopefully the creation of atlases for other planets.

Awesome

It's a great globe of Venus and it works perfect

Venus Atlas

Just like it's brother the Mars atlas this is a pretty cool app for anyone interested in the planets - and it shows features which no earth telescope could ever see since Venus is covered in dense White cloud in reality. Just like the Mars version don't expect real fine detail when u zoom in - but since the map is based on radar measurements this doesn't feel much of a worry-all in all a good and unique app
