  • The Best!

This is the best app out of the four I downloaded. The articles are straight from Wikipedia, but that is great because they are robust and thorough. Being able to find what attractions are near you geographically is very handy. I only wish the map program worked more like the real map program because realtime tracking and routing would be useful. Apple should open the map API to developers to allow them to interface with that instead of writing their own from scratch.

If you're looking for information on the site you're visiting or looking for a site to visit and not currency conversion, hotel/retail/food information this app is the one for you.

  • Great app for Rome tourists!

I just got back from a 5 day trip to Rome. I usually do not write reviews but this app really helped my wife and I greatly on our trip. I wouldn't pay much attention to the negative reviews, those are just people who either don't understand technology or are impatient downloaders. Of course it's going to take some time to download offline maps (duh).

This app worked perfectly. I used it everyday we were there and every time I saw another tourist having trouble reading a map or trying to figure out where they were, I pulled this out and located ourselves quickly.

There was no need to carry along bulky maps and books. This app has a ton of useful information for all the main attractions. Very much worth the $1 spent on this app. The GPS locates you within about 10 secs. And accurately shows where you are and what direction you are heading on the map.

  • Invaluable - an absolute bargain

This app is without doubt the best app I have downloaded to date. During a 5 day trip to Rome it was used constantly on my 3GS. Found us on the first day when we got lost, and was used constantly for navigation. On top of that you can click on the nearby monuments where in many cases it brings up a Wiki extract detailing everything that you need to know about the location. The 59p I've ever spent.

  • Worth it and very useful!

Just came back from Rome and found this app very handy. For those who are looking for an offline handy map this will help. Unfortunately, it does not list all the street names but you can easily get around it by finding the nearest landmark (usually a church) bookmarking it on the map and then searching for where you want to go and bookmarking that. Then you just follow the landmarks just like ancient times! A compass is handy to orient yourself and the hotel tourist map is good for cross-reference.

Used the map a lot but also found the basic info also useful to learn about some of the sites we ran across. Overall a useful app that is well worth the tiny invesment!

  • Average App

For $1.19, I can't really complain about much. The offline map feature is decent however I found myself using the free tourist maps that you can get from hotels more often. I found a number of streets missing from the map and I was a little disappointed that the "extra info" was just ripped straight from Wikipedia.

  • All Offline Roads Lead to Rome !!!

If you want to get more out of your trip to Rome, you can't go wrong with this. Stacks of offline info and maps to guide you around all the top spots, no wifi or internet connection required. Pretty hard to go wrong & a must have at only $1.19. Only thing missing is a more detailed transportation guide.

  • Do not travel to Rome without this baby!

This application is awesome! Rome is jam packed with interesting and beautiful sites. The best thing about this app is that when you are walking around and find a really cool place, you can just look up your position, list near by attractions and have access to the entire wikipedia description at your fingertips. It has not only all the major sites covered but also small and out of the way places. I am so glad that I had this during my holidays. I'm just dissappointed that I didnt get the Venice 2Go app (as it didnt come out before I headed overseas).

  • Perfect travelling companion in Rome

In travelling in Europe, I used the 2go apps whenever available - but found them particularly helpful in Rome, when you seem to stumble upon some amazing 2000 yr old structure every time you round a corner. In walking about, it was great for my wife to say - "hey I wonder what that is" - to which I could promptly answer - "that is the temple of hercules victor built in the 2nd century b.c." Also - the search function is nice. And while you cant really use it to search directly for hotels or restaurants, being able to search for streets was extremely helpful. If you are going to Rome and have an iPhone - this is a must have.

  • Good for reference

This is great when you need detailed info on something you are looking at in a museum or walking down the street while in Rome. It's basically an offline wikipedia on everything Rome and for that, it does its job. Map feature is alright, but you lose some street names when you zoom in. This app is definitely worth the 99cents as an information source ...but if you really want a comprehensive Rome travel app that gives you everything.. spend the money and download the DK Top 10 Rome app.
