Leave a Review Grindr
Ugh
Each update seems to put more and more behind a pay wall while blasting us with more and more intrusive and abusive ads. Search, a “new” feature that was recently touted, is gone. I can’t get message than a handful of people who are nearby since the number of profiles not behind a paywall was reduced, and since many people don’t show up when browsing with the travel feature (reduced from 3 to 1 the number you could unlock too message anyway). And those who show up as nearby but outside the range of who I can message are out of order and often nowhere near me, though the app implies they are much closer and all I need to do is purchase a plan at an insane amount for what this app can do. That is misleading at best. Can’t list my instagram handle anymore because I can’t connect the account (and let you sell tracking info to them) due to locked down settings in meta. So that has to be typed manually into the bio again, which takes up previous real estate since bios are so limited. You could put more characters into a tweet that you could with these bios, forcing a lot of people to go to abbreviations and very direct text that comes across as offensive. and I still get notifications even if notifications are turned off in the app or if a thread is muted if I still have the app open in the background. Turning off notifications or muting a thread should do just that at all times, not just when the app is closed.Show lessDeveloper Response
Hi there, We're sorry you're having trouble with some of the features of the app. Whenever you experience technical issues of any kind, you can reach out to us at help@grindr.com so that our support team can investigate and get things working again. Not a lgbt friendly app
This app was made for GAY MEN and now it’s just lgbtq. Great, fine. Why am I required to have my “100 profiles” filled with people I’m not interested in? Why can’t I filter them out? Also, when I run filters, why do you reorder my “100 profiles” so people move further away even though I adjusted them in a way to try to see a profile down on the list? Why is this app so ridiculously priced that you’d have to be an idiot to pay for it? Who are these idiots and how much are you paying for 5 star reviews? This is not an app for the lgbt community but a greedy company exploiting minorities for selfish financial gain. You already betrayed the lgbt company by selling sensitive information like hiv status. Personally I hope you go bankrupt and lose your jobs. Advice to new users: do not pay for any upgrades. It’s absurdly overpriced. Delete messages from their advertisements as they arrive. Do not interact with ads. Close the app if they spam you with one. Maybe they will make some adjustments. Also, never update the app unless it makes you. They just make it worse and more unusable every update in an effort to force you to pay. Also, I find it disgusting that a hookup app is marketing hiv treatments and test groups. It’s almost like a cigarette company selling cancer treatment drugs and studies. You are simultaneously creating the problem and profiting off the treatment. Unethical.Show lessDeveloper Response

I took a chance and subscribed to Xtra, which had some ok features. But once I cancelled that, and went back to the free version, I had MORE LIMITED access. BEFORE I bought the month subscription, I could explore and chat with THREE people per day. After I came back to free again I can only chat with ONE person. I noticed I can now views LESS profiles than I could before. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE UNLESS YOU PLAN ON PERMANENTLY STAYING THAT WAY. Also, they changed it so if you use one of the free filters like “age” or “online now”, you get a much more limited list of profiles, which actually defeats the purpose of filtering them!!! Not to mention people who have blank or multiple profiles, or people seeking trans partners, or even straight women now using the app to search for straight men - you NEED more filters. I’m not looking for trans partners nor am I trans, I’m definitely not trying to meet straight women, so there should be filters so we aren’t taking up space in each others fields. Having to block profiles more often than I chat with anybody is so exhausting. They keep making this app more useless and it’s hard enough meeting guys these days since these apps killed the dying gay bar scene. Use Scruff or Sniffies at least they aren’t bombarded with nonsensical video game adds and bot profiles.Show less
