  • Good but we need improvements like search all document and zoom

We need more improvements but is a very good app, I like to search all the doc not only one page, more index tools, update please because this is the best app for chm in apple store
  • Great App

Nice CHM reader for the iPad, better than the alternatives. However, there are some reasons not to give it 5 stars, that I think could be very much improved:
    - Lack of a "search in file" option (you can only search inside a page).
    - Index: There is an index feature. However, in large books with chapters with sub-chapters, there is only one very long index shown, and it is very difficult to move around it. In desktop CHM readers, these chapters are usually expandable, making it easier to find what you are looking for.
    - Whenever I delete a file, the app crashes.

  • Odd

Overall it's OK. However, I have random problems concerning opening chm files. Most times I just get the first page of each chapter without the ability to scroll down. Reloading the files does not help. Other times I cannot get any pictures. I am in the process of converting chm files to PDF so that I do not have to use this program. However when it does decide to work it works fine.

  • Better than the rest

I wanted an app to read CHM files which at first seems an easy ask as there are plenty of desktop equivalents.
Having said that the main problem seems to be rendering monotype fonts at the correct size.
When I came to read a lot of CHM files (from different places of origin) they mostly render the monospace fonts at least 50% smaller than the proportional font, making the text impossible to read.

Also I now require something which runs on ipad at full ipad resolution and the choices are only this app.
The developer has added a few fixes which were necessary but it renders the text properly and is not limited to iphone resolution only.
All things considered an expensive app but at present the only game in town.

  • Progressing!!! Keep moving!!!

I noticed this app the first time it was released, terrible at the very beginning. But it is really getting smarter, now quite excellent performing my favourate books in chm format, bravo!!!
  • I'm so happy to find this app!

I really like using my iPad as a reference device and it's been great for PDF files. But I have a large collection of CHM help files from many products that I'd like to have on the iPad as well. This app finally lets me do that.

One update I'd really like to see in the future though is to provide a proper tree view of the contents instead of just listing everything at once. When you want something near the end of a CHM file, you can be scrolling for minutes to get there. Having a drill in approach like other apps do it would be great. It would also be nice to be able to turn the table of contents on and off while in landscape mode. Sometimes it's nice to have a nice wide screen.

  • Close to perfect...

As much as I love to hate Microsoft, CHM are way better than PDF to read technical books. This app beats any CHM reader I've used on my Mac. I bought this 5mn after using the free "lite" demo version. VEry thoughtful text formating options, love the font available for monospace type. The TOC navigation is perfect.

Only missing things for me to give it five stars:

    - The ability to highlight text like in the kindle app
    - Being able to search the whole book, not just current page (is that a CHM limitation? I can't see why dev would not implement otherwise...)

    Anyway... Still definitely worth it!

  • Wonderful App.

Its a great app. Makes reading textbooks so much convinient. Only 2 requests:
Firstly, please allow hiding of the contents in landscape view as well, this would allow more text space for reading.
And Second, please please add features for highlighting, underlining, annotating and drawing on the text. Apps like iannotate pdf have these options for pdf files but if one can do this on chm then it would make an awesome textbook reader. Cause students like me want to interact with their textbooks and color and write on them.

  • CHM Simple

Finally an application for the iPad that let's you read chm files. If using with tables turn the auto encode off to maintain formatting. Then works as stated. Simple to use. Thanks for this one.
  • Smartest chm reader so far

CHMate is good at text layout. When you open a .chm document, the app can force the contents to fit the screen width while it can keep the font size large enough for reading.

Would be even better if it's able to transfer .chm files via USB cable. :)
