eh, I don't see the big hype
I got it cuz the screenshots looked pretty, and everyone else seems to rave about this game. In my opinion, Ancient War has less depth then Defender's Chronicles, less interaction than Knights Onrush, the only thing going for it is its' cutesy graphics. The sound effects get annoying really quick. The gameplay is very linear, there's just not that much to look forward to after the first few minutes. I have several Tower Defense type games on my iphone, each with a different style, sorry to say Ancient War's simple mix of their elements won't be making the cut.Show lessXtcy

This is a great game but is does get rather frustrating when the enemy just seems to have some unlimited supply of food? ESP on harder levels... Hope they release a way to improve food generation properties.Nigel Wee
A Real Review!
I agree with Okwaard, almost all of the reviews look fake. But it is a good first version and my eight year old son likes it a lot. There is not much strategy and the 2D graphics are ok, but the battle graphics are weak with average animation. The cost of each fighter is not well thought out, it turns out to be better to upgrade middle level sprites and churn out more of them than upgrade to the dinosaur for example which costs too much or is too weak. I can churn out ~ four infantry for the cost of one T-Rex and they are definitely more powerful (with a few upgrades) than a T-Rex. Outside of choosing which upgrades to use the limited strategy is to churn out fighters as quickly as possible, though sometimes it pays to wait and create a group of fighters rather than send them out one at a time. I haven't seen a way to increase the food creation yet, maybe that comes with higher levels. Overall it is okay for 99 cents, and with a lot of work it could be a great game. My eight year old will love it, but I need to see more strategic options for it to hold my interest. TalonShow lessTalonz
