  • Bridge couldn’t be better

I play community hands every day and will now start playing duplicate ( when I manage to successfully pay - tried twice but without success) because this App is soooooo user friendly. Just click on the light bulb and you get answers and help presented in a colourful and to a certain extent, dyslexia friendly way - lots of colour coding, symbols and visuals. Brilliant

Your Ladyship :-) Thank you for the kind complimentary words. If I could trouble you to drop us an email (support@ibridgeplus.com) Ideally with your phone number, I will give you a call and talk you through the steps to get into Duplicate. Your obedient servant Gidon
  • iOS 13 or iPhone 11 Pro issue

Overall this is a great app. There are some issues with it on my iPhone 11 pro, but it is very useable since one of the iOS updates. It still is stuck in portrait mode. But this seems to be an iOS 13 issue. When I first tried to provide app feedback from the App Store, I was unsuccessful.

Updating my review, I’m much happier with the app since either the last iOS update or the app update. The developer replied to my review with a note that they tried to show it was an issue with iOS 13. I’m sure it was, but my attempt to provide feedback about the app failed. I did see later that there was a note regarding the issue.

Overall, this is a great bridge game and the developers have fixed the game in a timely fashion.

We have done our very best to alert all users that there is an issue with ios13.1 and the app on certain iPhones (the max and pro versions of the 10 & 11) the app is plastered with loud warning messages to this effect. We are working on finding a solution, and we will issue a new release very soon that fixes this. As for contacting us, our email links are ‘alive and well’ and we aim to respond to all emails within 24/36H of receipt.
  • Could be worse.. could be much better.

Technically, the app is well constructed and free play was FUN. Only 9 hands were offered so I bought into the basic package.

My overwhelming sense is the play is VERY much geared to paying more money.

First, the ability to adjust E/W or N/S conventions ‘expired’ 🙄 unless I pay more.

Now I can honestly say that the game is biased against the player in a verifiably lop sided manner. I wonder if that would change if I upgrade. Hand after hand either is anemic- 0-5 points and no bidding except by the computer.. otherwise its hands with no bids (why not program that out.. how dumb), 13-15 point hands with outlandish perfect distribution for the computer to set, or lopsided distributions designed for the computer to set.

Don’t get me wrong, in an average rubber my side wins a few. but after 2... 6... 10 anemic hands in a row of less than 6 points I did a 50 ‘next’ clicking and found it was not my emotion or imagination. Roughly 1/15 hands could open, and maybe 3 could respond.

There is a lot of push for upgrade. So, despite a fun venue and VERY sophisticated design, I smell a rat. No more money from me.

I hope you believe our response. The app has a database of 2.6 billion deals. They are all computer generated, and I can categorically state that we have built no bias towards either partnership when the hands are randomly selected. The technical term for the spate of bad hands you’ve experienced is called ‘sods law’. If you start a new session, you’re just as likely to come across a predominance of powerful NS hands. The various purchase options are all transparent and fully explained in the app.
  • Bad partner

I’m amending an earlier and more enthusiastic review. This is like playing with a bad partner. North just bid me up to 4 clubs and then for “support” put down two small clubs. That’s typical: unexpectedly high bids with unexpectedly low support. (On those hands I use autoplay: the computer did the weird bidding so it can play the hand.). I very much like the “hint” and “explain” buttons, although about half the time the explanations don’t help much. Why you’d bid a suit to show you don’t have it is a little odd — clearly a convention I’ve never heard of.

  • Brilliant Bridge App

I have mainly used three other bridge apps, but I am really excited by the scope of iBridgePlus. When playing social bridge, it is difficult to measure ones level. I have tried duplicate bridge at bridge clubs, but do not really want that pressure. The Duplicate option offered by iBridgePlus is a very great attraction.
The Video Tutorials, are “in a class of their own”, easy to use and written with a sense of humour which is much appreciated.
I should also say that I had a very quick, friendly and informative response to an email query.
    Highly recommended!

  • Fair Bridge App

I’ve been playing this app for a few years and it runs well without bugs. But there are a couple of big negatives:
-Finesse fails 90% of the time, which is mathematically improbable and not reflective of real bridge.
-Computer partner will take control of bidding with fewer than 9-10 points, rebid four suit majors at the 3+ level, jump to slam without asking for aces, not return your lead, and other frustrating moves.

  • App written by bad bridge player

It is no fun using this app. Too many messed up deals in bidding because the dummy uses cue bid without a trump fit, or with less than 10 points. Or with partner passing twice, forcing a game, playing part, lead single on NT deals— not partner bid. Not returning partner lead, delete all messed up hands— don’t need too muchhands — just keep the good ones. If your app has 80% good hands, only 20% bad messed, that is normal. But right now, it is 60% messed. Keeping 2 million hands is more than enough, no need 2 billion.
I suggest you allow user to report bad hands that help you clean up.
I even had a hand with physical 6, or even 2 point, bidding 4nt,or 5 level cue bid of Singleton, which bidding system allows that!?!!

I am sure you have fallen victim of the mistake that many of us make. Namely not ‘reading the instructions ‘!! The Artificial Intelligence behind this app is one of the top Ai’s in the world, and certainly will not make the type of errors that you describe. However ....if you set the app playing an unfamiliar bidding system ( a frequent mistake) then you will encounter the type of weird bidding you describe. So please, READ the in app documentation, and make sure the app is set up correctly for you. If you’re unsure in any way, or need help, please make contact with us by email and we’ll ‘hold your hand’ until you get there.
  • Have a real teaching tool

This is useful for giving exposure to diverse and somewhat rare distributions. But it is too preprogrammed and needs a truly random setting for a touch of reality. I like it, but would like to see more of an instructional approach where one could select areas of practice such as NoTrump, preemptive, weak and strong twos, less cue bids and more conventions, slam road maps.... This would give a more instructional experience and mimic a Khan Academy approach without a radical programming change.

  • IBridgeplus

I bought ibridge plus when I started to learn to play Bridge and have found it really useful, and good fun too. As my play has developed ibridge has continued to challenge me. So far I have only tried the Contract Bridge so there’s still plenty more to try.
And when I contacted the support team to help with a problem I had a helpful reply within the hour. I am very impressed with the product and the support, and would recommend it.

  • Be careful with purchases!

This app plays very good bridge and has excellent commentary to help you bid and play. I liked it enough to pay for a lifetime subscription and buy Assist Forever, as otherwise you won’t continue to get the commentary. Beware, though, before purchasing Alter My System. I bought it, thinking I had a 14 day trial and would then get my money back if I didn’t like it. I wasn’t satisfied with that part of it, as you can change numerous settings to make it more like you’ve been taught, but not all. For instance, you could set it to play strong two bids, but not with weak responses to them. It evidently wants to play only weak two-bids and only strong two-club bids, so all responses to other two bids are strong. I tried to get my money back, but they say the 14 day trial is before purchasing and that it is clearly stated, but I still can’t find where it says just how to do that. Just be very careful before making any purchases, as there are no refunds and unfriendly correspondents.
