Love it especially the information wheel around an airport!!! Easy to use, best information, do my trip planning on my phone, good customer service. The only negative is if you have three gps devices two G3X, Aera 660, and Garmin Pilot App, the annual fees, are $150 each device. I think they should have no charge, on the 3rd device…. Just saying! Contiously developing app with strong support
If you own your own aircraft with bunch of Garmin touch screen units then go for it, if you fly someone else’s plane then use other app like sky demon , wing x. ForeFlight is for commercial use, especially if you collect fuel points.oceanicbang
Garmin Pilot Review
Garmin continues to add features and improvements to their GP app. Overall this is a very good product. I can only imagine the complexities behind the curtain. This being said, app still drops off line regularly, especially when connected with a 510 card inside the nxi or 3000. I do really like the availability of charts to any airport being at your fingertips. Keep up the good work.Show lessTruly yours.
My Favorite EFB
Best EFB to fly with if you have Garmin avionics. Love the Map with split screen, especially the dedicated traffic view. It lets me use a North-up map while seeing traffic in Track-up mode.
Also I find Pilot to be less buggy than ForeFlight and more intuitive UI.Private Aviator

Pretty useless compared to ForeFlight, even in Europe. Use it for database concierge and that’s it.wyullg

Still no visual notam support in UK
I’ve used Pilot for years, and prefer it to other competitors for the most part. However, it still does not show notams visually on the map like Sky Demon does. I therefore still have to use Sky Demon if I want to see those. Come on Garmin, it’s been a long time and still this feature is missing.MaxromUK
It’s ok, but not as good as others
I use Garmin in my plane and would like to continue to use Pilot for consistency, but somethings are just irritating.
Weather in Garmin pilot is not as good as the GPS or other equipment. Just cumbersome to navigate options.
Airport information is not clearly shown and you have to go through tabs to get basic info.
They have a navigation and planning mode that’s very irritating. More things to click around when you are flying.
Overall it’s not a bad product, but the flow and overall feel of the use is not even close to other options in the market. And by the way, many of this issues are recently added options that has regressed the development of the product.Show lessMiamitraveler
Poor and sluggish Rendering Performance
Using high end iPad Mini 4. one generation before the current. Reset to manufacture settings to remove fragmentation to make it fast again. Yet rendering performance of Garmin Pilot is poor. Maps take sometimes 5 seconds or longer to render, sometimes track of plane jumps a mile due to lag. Touch sometimes takes many seconds before reacting. It also crashed, albeit ForeFlight crashes as well. Flight planning not as intuitive as ForeFlight. Default VFR map color scheme is way too over saturated. Unless one also invests in the latest iPad Mini 4, performance is unacceptable.Show lessLuc1234
