  • Scanner App

I’ve used a few apps for police/EMS scanners and this one is my favorite. I paid for the pro version which was worth the price to upgrade since I listen to the scanner activity for my city through an AirPod as white noise a lot. I listen while cleaning, working, and even fall asleep at night listening to it. I like that it doesn’t seem to drain my battery even while running almost constantly most days. It didn’t seem like there would be many added features with paying for the pro version but the enhancements it does have are worth the price. I like that it automatically connects to the last feed I was listen to and that I have the ability to customize the wallpaper. I also appreciate that it automatically reconnects if the feed is interrupted for some reason. Obviously the lack of ads interrupting the stream is the biggest improvement. Overall the interface is simple and easy to navigate and the one time I had a question, support was quick to respond with a solution. I recommend this app to people all the time and actually just learned recently that there must not be a version in the Google operating system which was surprising since this is such a popular app on iOS. Thanks for providing a great app.

  • What a bunch of greedy con artists

I am getting so sick of this new business model that all companies are employing. We pay for a lifetime subscription or buy a pro version and now you weasels all find a new way to squeeze more money out of us by making these new pro plus or higher tiers. We already bought the highest tiers. Now you greedy companies are doing everything you can to weasel your way out of your original sales of your app. How pathetic are you. If I paid for a pro version and it was a one time price, that’s your loss. Finding a way to screw us into paying even more for features that were already included is so unethical and unfair. I will be deleting your app and demanding a refund for my original purchase from apple. I will also be seeking to file a class action lawsuit against you and all these other companies that are employing this new business scam. You messed up. We will take you all down. Con artists.

  • Delayed and seems to crash a lot lately

I’ve used this app for years and liked it but lately it’s been having problems with crashing. I’ll open it and it immediately crashes. Sometimes after 5 or 6 tries it will stay on. They don’t seem to do updates often so it takes a while to get fixed when this happens. Also be aware that the stuff you hear is delayed. When you hear the dispatchers say the time on the air it’s always 3-4 minutes behind what the time actually is. I’ve heard sirens going by so I open the app and it’s a good few minutes before I hear what’s going on, on this scanner app. Another thing is they decide what to broadcast when you’re listening to a channel that includes a couple different cities. Just like now, I was listening to them search for a way to get access to a brush fire for a good 30 minutes. Why? I know there’s other stuff going on so why are they choosing to only put this out. I stick with this app because I like the recording feature and I did pay for pro years ago but there is more and more competition on the App Store that’s becoming tempting. If something major changes, I’ll update my review.

  • Pro Works Well:Clear & No Ads

I live in a town with less than 14,000 peeps. After realizing a digital scanner starts at $200 and would have to be programmed, I realized it would be better to take a chance on this $5 app. I sure am delighted with the savings. In fifteen minutes, I had easily added multiple local fire, EMS, and police favorites. As I write this in the middle of the night, I am hearing callouts for vehicle stops, an overdose, and other activity. This keeps me in the loop as to what is happening in the surrounding area and next county over. I recognize the roads and apartment buildings being identified. It will be beneficial to add other cities around the nation to keep an eye on my family for weather and other events. Even railroad lines are included. The sound quality is nice. No ads with pro. Better than the scanner for me.

  • Enjoy listening every evening

I love listening! It’s great! Interesting & fun. Reception is great. When I play games, I listen. I set the sleep timer for 30 minutes when I go to bed & usually I’m asleep before it shut off. No more laying & thinking for an hour or more. I love true crime shows & books, this fits right in. It’d be even better if it followed officers on their calls, hear what happens at the scene & know how it turns out. Kind of like cops, but with 911 calls & audio only. Thanks for a great app!

  • Worth the upgrade.

I love listening to my favorite music while driving around with the local scanner playing over my music so I stay up to date. This app possibly saved my family from injury as well. A couple months ago, we had a couple tornados touch down and this app picked up the storm teams frequency so I heard exactly where the storm was going and was able to warn my family to take cover. I hope this app stay operational forever. I’ve been using it over 5 years maybe longer. Download it and just pay for the upgrade , you will never want a refund!!

  • Great App

I have tried other police scanner apps in the past. I have used this one for years. Now I do have a Uniden police scanner. I will still use this when I'm outside working around the house. Just a reminder these scanner feeds are provided by volunteers. So when a feed goes off line it’s not the app’s fault. It’s a provider who is having equipment issues. Also more cities are shutting down their police and fire transmissions so know one can hear them. That’s why the only way that you can hear the Chicago zones is on an extended online delay. You can thank Mayor Beetlejuice for that. And she can edit out anything she doesn’t want the public to hear

  • Generally fair but needs improvement

This is the third scanner app I’ve tried, all with pretty much the same results. I use it to monitor Minneapolis Fire Department. It’s easy to use and to open. But unfortunately there are 3 shortcomings: first, the audio quality is inconsistent, ranging from loud & clear to almost unintelligible, often cutting in and out in the middle of a transmission. Second, the app often closes by itself. If I haven’t heard any radio traffic in a while, I check my phone and sure enough, the app closed. Third, even when the app is open, sometimes it seems to stop working for a few hours. I know because the Minneapolis Fire Dept. broadcasts radio checks at specific times and if I don’t receive those, I know something’s wrong. I’ve even known the app to go silent for days at a time. Verdict: fairly good when it works, but inconsistent and unreliable.

  • The best

I’ve used this app for years and years and I adore it. When you want to hear the scanner you want your feed fast. I can open this app and my local feed is right there and I’m listening in seconds. Last December I woke up after a night shift to a sky filled with smoke. In seconds I had the scanner on, knew that there was something called the Marshall Fire and that we were going to be evacuated. This allowed me to gather kids and pets and have some extra time before the evacuation order came. We ended up losing our house so this extra time was truly priceless.

  • Great scanner app - worth fee for pro version

Have had the free app for years - PD and FD near me were boring to listen to. Lately FD is many runs deep, using mutual aid (calling other departments to help). Police is super busy on calls like assault, man with knife, stolen vehicles, etc. The ads on the free version caused the steam to stop, without the ads, I hear 95-99% of the calls during any hour. Worth 5 bucks for sure. If someone happens nationally, say activity shooter, wild fires, etc; search that area and start listening. You can explain what’s happening, real time, better than the news. A+.
