Good except for one prob.

I don't like how it saves the photo you take to the photo roll.

Asian language text problems

I really wanted to like this app; the feature set is pretty good, but there is a problem with Asian language text (Chinese or Japanese) on a note. You can enter the text in the note fine but any the Asian language text simply disappears when the note is e-mailed as a pdf, while other text (even in Greek, Cyrillic, and Hebrew alphabets) remains. If the note is e-mailed as a picture, the Asian language text appears, but then you cannot copy and paste it.
I see that no specifically Chinese/Japanese fonts are options in the app, but this should not be an obstacle, given that in Apple's Notes, you normally have *no* choice of font, but it still understands when you are inputting Chinese and switches automatically to an appropriate font. Similarly, NoteMaster has no problem with Chinese/Japanese even with the same font (Helvetica) chosen as I had in Mental Note, and AwesomeNote also handles Chinese/Japanese with the default font setting. Maybe the difference is these other apps all export text as text, not as a pdf. But the inability to export text by e-mail is my other main objection to MentalNote.

If the language support doesn't matter to you and your focus is more one audio and images, rather than text, then this is a nice app. It would be better, though, if there were one universal app, rather than separate iPad and iPhone apps.

Slow 

Very slow not even able to use it. (Crashes on startup)

Poor sketching

Great idea, except for one big shortcoming. The finger drawn portion only reads the position of your finger every quarter second or so, making for very unnatural sketches. Up it to 10 Hz or so and it would be great. Please fix!

Free lite version limits

Can only write 2 notes on the free version, after that you have to upgrade to the $2.99 version of the app.

Very innovative

Type notes, add images, record audio, and draw all in the same note. Plus you can add colour coded tags, which can serve the same function as folders for organization. I have tried a few note-taking apps and this is the one I like using best. Easy to use too.

Love it!

Love that I can take a pic of my grocery list and mark off items as I get them... Just like pen and paper!

Good

Very versatile and flexible. Wish it had two additional features 1) Zoom when drawing, and 2) landscape size paper that allowed use of full width of landscape horizontal space. Wish current reviews were more objective, this app has a great deal of potential.

holly molly!

Wow!!! IMPRESSIVE!!!! although this app is missing some fancy features that other note taking apps have, mental notes has exceled in some other vital REAL note taking aspects that i think no other note taking apps in the app store has, and it has done it very very well... it blew me away!

firstly, being able to TRUELY embed a mix of words, audio and drawing, and i mean, REALLY mix, most apps can embed drawing but the drawings are seperate attachments, in mental notes, the drawings can intrude and mix with the words,

and secondly, notes can be exported as photos into the photo alburm, or as a picture into an email, or even as a pdf into an email, and with pdf export, the words in the notes can be selected in the pdf even if the drawing is mixed with it... now THIS is impressive... i think i have no choice but to buy the full version! :-)
