We're super excited to announce the latest version of the SmartShanghai.com App. It's bigger, better, more streamlined, nicer, snazzier, more user-friendly, and now, more than ever before, more social. Yes, more "social". What we mean by that is, now, with the new SmSh App, users are invited to contribute by submitting content like events listings and deals, share recommendations of favorite restaurants or bars, upload pictures and menus, upload Housing and Buy&Sell posts, report errors in our database, recommend services, and let us know about cool new stuff, among other things, right into the SmSh App. Basically, we're inviting you to interact with the SmartShanghai app, with the thinking that your own experience of Shanghai — your own favorite places to go, your own favorite things to do, and your own life out there in the city — is important, useful, and valuable. So we'd like to hear from you as much as you'd like over the platform. But yeah, of course, we'll give you free stuff if you do.

We've improved our search and made it easier to browse our directory and popular How-To articles. Just tap the search bar and suggestions will start showing up. It's now also easier to reach out to us, open your account page and scroll down to see how you can help us by providing feedback, reporting bugs and contributing to our app (yes we are looking for contributors). Plus various bug fixes.

This is our biggest update… to date! Please update your SmSh app to this latest version. Older versions will stop working in the next few days. This is the first release of a series of updates that will be rolled out in the next few months leading up to our 20th anniversary in October, with the goal of making the SmartShanghai app more useful again, more social, more community driven, more fun to use, and, generally, more everything. For this version, we’ve rebuilt parts of the app from scratch, focusing on re-designing the landing page, and fixing some of the major issues with the current version. You can now submit events, housing and Buy & Sell listings directly in the app. Also, now, there are better ways of getting involved, by uploading pictures of your favorite venues and services, food pictures, deals, and more, more, more. Please reach out with any feedback you have, and stay tuned for what’s in the pipeline.

Heyyy!!! We are about to launch something HUGE for our APP users. Take 2 minutes to read this update, because many of these features YOU requested! No more manual App Updates: This feature is now a relic when we built the APP over 10 years ago when many users didn’t have fast internet access on their phones. NOW, the app always loads the most up to date info automatically. A NEW SEARCH THAT WILL BLOW YOUR MIND: SmartShanghai’s search has been entirely re-vamped. It’s smarter and now shows more results for articles, events and venues. You can even now find 3-letter venues like KIN and KOR, and BAR (ROUGE cause ur too lazy to type the whole thing out). MUCH FASTER LOADING: We’ve bled to make our APP way more speed optimized. SHARING ON WECHAT FIXED! That annoying error message is no more. Now you can share listings from the SmSh app to your friends; lovers, and enemies on WeChat. Yea! Want to be the most helpful person to all the humans in your life? SHARE our APP with the people you love! And of course, don’t be shy to reach out to us with other APP feature ideas!

We've re-designed our APP homepage to show our full coverage of recently opened venues in Shanghai. There are also a larger variety of events visible, including art shows, community and family events, as well as deals. We’ve also fixed a bug that made the app use your location more than necessary
