It lacks scales
It is not a bad app. Have found I have used it to brush up on scales and modes when I've got a mins to spare. And then using the quiz test app. But it's lacking a lot of important scales. Pentatonic? Bebop? Whole Tone? Altered scale? I wouldn't get it if you're a jazzer. You'll be disappointed. Probably better to find something else. Could the app designers please add these important scales. Nice app!
Excellent scales and modes app for begginers to advanced. Nice info and good slick load up and navigation. Guitar tab is a bonus. Only crit is the tinny piano sound. Otherwise a good app for any musician.ChrismusicW
A cheap education
I've been using Scales and Modes for a couple of weeks now and it's actually been pretty darn helpful. If you're a guitarist anything like me, you've probably haven't had much in the way of real musical training and learned most of what you know from looking at tab diagrams and listening to recordings. This program is great for expanding your ability to explore familiar musical sounds and tonalities. Since learning the Phrygian mode my head has been banging a good 60 to 75% more and now that I've gotten a handle on the Mixolydian I feel as if I can yearn plaintively.Show lessDog's Breakfast
Great for learning modes by ear
This has made learning modes and learning to recognize modes by ear much easier for me. Bargain priced for such a nice app.Bert690
