Reviews of Progressive Alarm Clock

  • Fine on iPhone terrible on iPad

    26. May 2024.

I have used this app for a long time mostly on iPads. Of course it is also written to work on iPhones. The only issue that I have with the application is that the display on the iPad Pro 12.9 inch Gen 3 & Gen 5 is distorted with colored bands, going across all controls that make it very difficult to be able to read this is existed ever since the second generation of iPad pros were introduced so it's been close to four years now and this issue is not been resolved. I have contacted the developer, but I have not gotten any kind of response to my issues it's an extremely nice Alarm Clock application pleasant to wake up to gives you plenty of options on how it alarms and the tones that are used. The only negative is the display on iPad pros I wish that would be fixed so I'll recommend this app because it is fine on an iPhone, but I'll only rated at three stars until they fix the display
  • Buggy but good

My original review said I wasn't going to use this app because I didn't trust it because there were crashing bugs when I tried to use certain settings on the options screen. (Since then I've also noticed that the app does not appear to have been updated in seven years, which I would guess means it's technically dead and will eventually stop working altogether. That's too bad.) The generally positive reviews have convinced me to overlook all that, however, and I've been using the app to wake me up for work for the better part of a week now and it has been great. The benefits of a gradual alarm without interruptions while I'm setting it up or nags to pay for a subscription to get features I neither want nor need (Sleep Cycle, which I used happily for about ten years now, has lately become guilty of both of these transgressions, causing me to look elsewhere for a gradual alarm clock app) is a fine thing. And as a regular meditator, I very much appreciate the singing bowl tones it uses to wake me up. Long may it continue to function!
  • Buggy

I've been using Sleep Cycle as my alarm clock for years now and it's been 100% reliable; lately, however, it's started resembling Insight Timer in its continually adding bells and whistles that I don't want or need, and the worst thing of all, in my opinion, is that it's started interrupting me while I'm trying to set the alarm by throwing up screens that want me to pay for it so I can get more of these features I don't want or need. All I want and all I will accept is a gradual/progressive alarm clock that wakes me up gently, such as this app promises to be. Unfortunately, I don't trust this app to wake me reliably because it's buggy; I go into the options and tap "Snooze Mode" and the app crashes on the spot, every time. This shakes my confidence in the reliability of the app, and since I'm using the app to wake me for work, I require 100% reliability. I will continue the search, but I don't have high hopes since there seem to be very few alarm clock apps that wake one slowly and gently, and most of those that do are, like Sleep Cycle, full of unnecessary and unwanted distractions from their actual purpose. Alas...
