  • Essential to the serious artist. You need it.

I should have posted before now. If I had posted earlier, I might have taken a half star off for the need to use a modal transform for layers, but it isn't that hard to adapt, frankly? And I would be adding on the half star anyway, now, because ArtStudio has been on 3 iPads of mine and was essential on each. We have a lot of choices, which I personally like, when it comes to art apps on iPad, but over and over ArtStudio has been the go to app which I use like I use Photoshop on my desktop computer. Photoshop is a must have, and similarly, ArtStudio does the same jobs on my iPad. And it does it in a very familiar and understandable way, if you normally use PS. So even if I get romanced by other apps on my iPad Pro, the images will probably be partially done in ArtStudio, as most images will touch Photoshop at some point when I am working on my Mac. I could list things that I think are great and there are many. But I think it is probably more meaningful to say that I don't think there is anything "wrong" with ArtStudio. Sure, more features, easier to do, I am on board. But ArtStudio is what I go to when I run into a problem doing whatever I want to do elsewhere. And that has been true over 3 well-used iPads. That is a compliment that I don't pass out much. It was the "first installed" art app on iPad #2 and #3. I probably will do so on number 4, if and when that happens. LuckyClan willing. Nice job folks.

  • Why doesn't this get the press that other apps do?

This is a great app, and as close to photoshop as any app I can find on an iPad. Plus it has the one feature that none of the other big name apps (procreate, pixelmator) have ie layer masks.
My one gripe would be that palm rejection with the Apple Pencil doesn't seem very reliable, but all in all this is really good.

  • Great

I love it and easy to use.
  • Amazing

I bought this app years ago and loved it but then I didn't have time to draw much and barely touched it after a while, I've just gotten the iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil with the hopes of spending more time on my drawing hobby and I am thrilled with how well it works with the Apple Pencil. So many people tend to choose procreate and I gave it a try but was severely unimpressed. It does have a few things this doesn't have but THIS has way more things that it doesn't and they're the things that I need! I think I'll always end up back on this app.

  • Brilliant in every way

Subtle, precise, elegant, and beautiful use of iPad hardware capabilities is present in this app--feels like a natural extension of the genius of Apple itself. It has excellent design, user interface, and performance. For an amateur ("one who simply loves") graphic designer, it is ideal: layers, effects, and import/export in many versatile formats. Only rarely am I completely satisfied with an app, and it is with distinct pleasure that I write this review on such an occasion. Intuitive layout and functionality are combined with with refreshingly imaginative tools to produce an outstanding suite for the creation of visual graphic art.

  • frequent crashing

I want to like this app, its interface makes sense to me (although it requires several steps to copy/paste a simple layer - using the edit menu for each step instead of having a tool to do it) But I could get over that, if it wasn't for the fact that the app crashes VERY frequently. anytime I have more than 2 layers there is a 100% chance of it crashing. I have an iPad Pro (9.7inch) there's absolutely no excuse for an app of this type to crash on my device, which was specifically designed for this type of use - My feeling is, the app itself has a serious bug. I'd avoid getting it, if you want to avoid frustration.

  • Five Stars

Interface is great. It's so simple and easy to use. The layout of the menus is the cleanest I have seen. This, to me, makes or breaks an app... This one makes it! The price is very fair for all it does. Jus be patient and do the tutorials. The menu instructions are created with this sketch program and are about as simple as it gets. You will be up and running in no time. You will quickly learn to use TWO fingers to drag the image around because ONE finger draws lines and other commands. Use it for couple of hours and you will be another Da Vinci. I looked at a lot of others and kept coming back to this one... You will too!

  • Amazing app for art and editing!

Amazing. I use this app so much! I don't really draw much, but I use this app all the time for editing things. I can easily important scenes from cartoons and edit them to my hearts content. This may sound stupid but that's what I use it for and it's great at it!!! I honestly use all the time and I have no idea what I would do without it. Keep up the good work!

  • Great App

I love the Art Studio App! I'm using the IPad Pro with the Apple Pencil which is a great fun tool to work with.
But when it comes to the color picker, I prefer to use this app on my oldest IPad using a regular stylus because I can find any color I'm using just by holding down the stylus or my finger on the color and it will choose just the right color I'm working with.
It doesn't seem to work right with the Apple Pencil -however if I go to the color picker in the side bar it will choose the color I need but it does not always choose the right one.
The color picker in this app works best on my oldest IPad (2013). The color picker doesn't work well in Art Studio at all on my IPad Air (2015.) It works perfectly on my oldest IPad though even though all my IPads have the same IOS-I keep them updated always!
This is why I won't get rid of my old one because it works best with Art Studio. I also wish to know how do I delete custom brushes I no longer need? Thanks! Your app is awesome!
It's the best, most versatile art app that I have.

  • Long-standing favorite made even better

Very pleased the app is now compatible with Apple Pencil. From the very beginning, I've preferred Art Studio's clear layout and ease of use. It was indispensable to the illustration of my dissertation and I continue to use it create both original drawings and cutouts of photographic details (i.e., removing the background/negative space around a figure to isolate its finer features) for publication. Bravo, Lucky Clan!
