  • Deleted because it is SO millennial

It’s a good implementation of the game. But when you open the game, there’s a bunch of cheering and yelling in the background like it’s a spacex launch. You go back to the main menu? The same. Click into a new game before the cheering is done? Don’t worry. It will follow you. Are the developers in such desperate need of approval that they need an approval soundtrack? Didn’t get enough participation trophies as kids?

Here’s the thing. First time you hear it, it’s fine. The hundredth time you hear it it has just built up to the point of rage. So, the devs ability to turn out a good game? Gold star. Ability to keep their customers coming back to see their ads and therefore pay their salaries? Let’s just say that life doesn’t give out participation trophies.

Deleted. Moving on after more than 100 games. I’m sure I can find another soduko on the App Store.

  • Still the best

I’ve had this version for just over 11 years and only have 2 complaints. The gameplay mechanics could only be improved by the addition of the option to fill multiple blocks. This is a minor inconvenience that I’d rather them not implement if it would change the interface.
The second, more important complaint, is that over the last several months the adds have begun opening browser windows. This is the only reason that I am only giving 4 stars.
That being said, I’ve played this game thousands and thousands of times and the only real problem is the adds. I’ve gotten more than enough enjoyment from this free game to justify buying the add-free version but hadn’t done it before because this version works so well.

  • What has happened?

After years of playing and sitting through a LOT of ads, the developer has decided to do the most infuriating of all updates, and allow the advertisers to play their ads disregarding the users selected volume control. So now instead of sitting quietly on the train putting up with the advert, often watching the commercials and even wondering if I should hit that button, it suddenly and uncontrollably blasts noise to all of those around me. The embarrassment is dreadful. I can’t play it any more and I am sorry about that.

  • MALWARE ALERT: Loaded with malicious ads!!!

I used to love this app, but now when I play it, the app causes popups to open in Safari. It takes over my iPhone 11, making it behave in frustrating and scary ways. I am afraid to click on the ads to close them, because they might be adware, so I force close the app instead. Although I love solving sudokus, the inclusion of the worst possible kind of ads has made this app so annoying I can no longer recommend it to anyone.

UPDATE: The developer requested that is send more details by using the Submit Feedback link int the app, so I sent feedback including a link and a screenshot of the site their app took me to. 5 days later, and the app still spawns new tabs in Safari, and the developer has only sent a generic automated reply. So, what was the point of submitting feedback? Surely the development team can use the app and see for themselves that it is opening URLs for no apparent reason.

  • Why I prefer this version

If you make a mistake by putting the wrong number in a space it removes it immediately. You’re not left to keep going and increase your mistakes. I really value today aspect.
  • Still...

Still no painting of pencil-note possibles? Years back it was like this. The design is good, it's still a polished production. BUT. In execution it is screamingly laborious because of how possibles have to be entered - touch the square, touch the value, back and forth, back and forth, repeat, repeat. Abandoned this game ages back, reinstalled it to see if that's been tackled.... No, it has not. Simpler versions lacking this game's polish offer this facility, but not this one... Looks like another uninstall is on the way. Add this one feature, it'd be close to perfect.

  • Rubbish Music

Used to be a great app. Now ruined by some senseless music that overrides preferences and destroys being able to have a quiet game to clear your mind. Now looking for a new app.
  • Not great UX design

Three elements of the game make it frustrating and take away enjoyability.

    1) Noting numbers first critical flaw: numbers are not always in the same position within a square making scanning and readability near impossible.
    2) Noting numbers second critical flaw not all numbers can fit within a square so you cannot see how man possible numbers are in a square if there are more than six.
    3) General spacing: this game should be played with a stylus, as the buttons for tiles (and notes) literally overlap making unintentional errors extremely common and effecting overall scores. Mistakes cannot be undone either, so it takes our enjoyment of the game. Solution: Space out the number tiles in all modes!

  • Do not care for impossible not to guess at top level.

The very top level of the game is virtually impossible to solve without using ‘best guess’. I do not mind complexity but when you have eliminated all possible analysis, ie, you have three, and sometimes four, squares with the same possibilities and another two with pairs (of numbers in the three or four identical numbers) down to a guess. There have been times when comparing all numbers in the rows or columns you find one odd digit but this is the exception and not the rule. Yes, you get “3” guesses but that is not solving the problem hence the three stars and I finally dropped the program even tho I did run up 100 plus in the 5th level.
