Seriously people?
This app works fine for what it is.
It's a remote app, wifi connected to your DJ PC running the black cat cart, so that you can walk around, meet guests, etc, while still able to select music via your iPad without being forced to stay behind your DJ booth.
For the dimwits who don't bother to dig for info and choose instead to leave negative reviews, simply because it's not what they thought it was, you're idiots.

Bait & Switch
As the other reviewer stated, this is not an app. If Black Cat had any integrity, they'd remove this "Sound Byte Control." I'd hoped to test out the app before purchasing but there's nothing here - just a redirect. Bad form.
Not an app
Not really an app. Took me to a message that was more trouble than its worth. Boo.
Fantastic - when it works
This is, basically, a remote control interface for the Sound Byte sound board/cart machine running on a computer. Via your wireless network you can play sounds loaded into your Sound Byte rack(s). The Sound Byte program just has to be running on the PC. It doesn't even have to have focus.
For features and usability, I give this program 5 stars. I subtract two for instability.
The Good:
- Seamless interface with the PC
- What you see on the PC, you see on the iPad
- Changes to colors, labels, etc. are immediately reflected on the iPad
- Simple touch-and-play interface
- Great alternative to hot-key mapping
The bad:
- After playing less than 5 or so sounds, the buttons stop working. It's like an IR remote with weak batteries.
- Have to relaunch if it becomes unresponsive
- Sometimes have to kill it in the quick launch on relaunch because it won't reconnect to the PC
- Crashes frequently
I tried using it during a podcast last night. I had to restart it at least a dozen times (or more) and missed several queues. Fix the stability issues and you've got yourself a 5-star interface.

Not Bad
Does what it's meant to, but the "mute" "abort" and "pause" buttons on the iPad app don't have any affect on the playing Mac.
Fix these and it would be a five-star rating, as it's designed to be a remote, not an actual player (which is why I think this has a low rating)
I'm running a 2010 MacBook White with 4GB RAM and a 3rd Gen iPad.

Does what it supposed to do
Ignore the bad ratings. It controls soundbyte which needs to be installed on a computer first. After that it works perfectly. Remember it's called sound byte *control*.
Works perfectly
Installed on iPad & iPhone. Works like a charm.
Great value-add to sound byte!
This iPad app combined with sound byte for win/Mac is the ultimate tool set for producing podcasts! I've been using sound byte for years, after the de facto inventor of podcasting recommended it. Great app for silently triggering sound cues in-studio. Thanks black cat! My noise gate thanks you too!

doesn't work
fix it please
You need to own "Sound Byte"
If you don't know what "Sound Byte" is then this application is useless to you. This is for remote control of a specific piece of sound software that operates like an old radio cart rack (if you don't know what that is, this app is REALLY useless to you). That said, this does exactly what it says it does, it triggers carts in "Sound Byte" remotely. Thank you, Black Cat Systems, I will find this useful...
