Description of McCalc Fusion Calculator

The McCalc Fusion Pressure Calculator is designed to help you quickly find the correct fusion pressure for your job. To properly heat-fuse polyethylene pipe, the fusion pressure must be adjusted so the pipe manufacturer's recommended interfacial pressure is achieved. McCalc takes the guesswork out of HDPE and Polypropylene pipe fusion. By selecting your McElroy fusion machine and entering your pipe size and pressure requirements, the recommended theoretical gauge pressure may be calculated. McCalc offers the following features: - Easy selection of any of McElroy's hydraulic fusion machines. - Selection from nine different international standards for HDPE and Polypropylene pipe fusion. - Pipe size entry in IPS, DIPS, O.D., or JIS units. - Wall thickness entry using the pipe's dimensional ratio or actual wall thickness. - Interfacial pressure and drag pressure entry in units of psi, bar, kg/cm², or MPa. - Multiple-language support including English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Reviews of McCalc Fusion Calculator

  • Nice update but still has flaws, just my opinion.

The new update to this app that took place over the weekend is a nice update. But now you’ve lost the separation between the PP and PE selector at the bottom of the page, and the proper specification selector becomes more difficult to understand unless you know exactly which one you need. Granted this is taught in training, yet can be easily forgotten in the field when you have nothing to reference. It would be nice to give a reference page to the proper specification selection based on area of the world and material as a separate click item at the top of the page. When you were doing PP before there was only 3 selections in the PP category, now there is 21 listed over all for both types. The separation of the 2 materials was much better and easier to navigate. A legend of the Green, Orange and Yellow spots would be nice also. Most of us know this that have been doing this for many years, but many newcomers may not. We don’t want it to be a guessing game for those that don’t. I like the new sound feature included on the ending of each perimeter area for heat soak, open, and cooling, but the sound needs to be louder and more of an attention getter, than a soft cutisy tune. Overall McElroy is the leader in the fusion industry and happy to be a distributor for them. Keep up the good work!
  • What?

    Too detailed.
    Won’t save input.
Have had over a year, and has never helped me.
  • Latest update came with issues

The timer feature is no longer visible besides the start/reset buttons. I can’t see the time. And the black background with the blue lettering in the selection menus make it difficult to read out in the sun which is usually the only place I fuse pipe or use this app. Overall it’s a good app but needs a little attention.

    Update:
Previous issues were due to my iPhone being on dark mode. Still would be nice for the app to compatible with dark mode.
