  • Awesome!!!

This is app is the best. It's very much follows the accurate an the right rules. And if u verse the computer it does not cheat at all like the other apps. I love this app. An improvement can be that the coach must tell u a reason why u can't do that move so whoever is playing will understand the game more better like me. I'm just luvin' it! 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 P.S. This app does deserve 5 out 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

  • Not bad

A good chess engine, however playing an inanimate opponent has its disadvantages. The computer tends not to fall for tricks such as forks, skewers and pins, which gives the game a different feel of play from in real life.
  • Good Game

I am by no means a chess player of any consequence, yet I found this app to be quite good. The program AI can be set from 1 to 100. At level 1, I was able to win, which is always nice. At 100, the AI takes quite a while to figure out its next move, until it reaches the end game - once it has a checkmate in mind, the moves are quite fast. The Coach did a nice job of warning me if I had needlessly put the queen in jeopardy. The use of ads is unobtrusive, and really does not detract from the experience. There is an option to get insight into the AI move decisions - I'm not really sure of the utility of that, since the AI typically thinks too fast to learn anything. Overall, I recommend checking out this app.

  • Good game

5 stars is perfect, nothing is perfect. But this app is one of the best. Great graphics and good game over all. Needs a better teaching mode. Maybe some that includes a deeper understanding of why a certain move is made over another. Either you naturally understand chess fundamentals or your like me and have to read some massive manual like chess for dummies that attempts to explain it to you, but doesn't. The AI seems to be too much of an expert or "did it just make that move?" It doesn't seem very realistic. The AI's moves are to fast to feel real. Lastly, The adds are annoying, I would pay a couple of bucks for an ad free version. keep up the good work.

  • Love the challenge, gets better and better

This app is suitable to beginners and those with expertise. It doesn't allow you to place your king in check, which can help you learn spatial awareness throughout the game. Also, for those with expertise, it has adjustable difficulty settings that not only challenge you, but help you get better. I have actually changed my opening strategy after watching effective strategies from the computer. Surprised this is free. Some may whine about the advertising, but for a game of this quality to be free, it is worth it.

  • Mr

Very strong program. Ruthless end game, Great GUI (iPad). If you are wanting to have an idea of how top ranking Pros play this program is for you. If you are use to playing against programs with the strength cranked up, this program is for you. You will be challenged till the very end. This Chess Free program with the new update will test your skills and eat you alive if your not carefully watching your every move. The fact that this is a chess free program is impressive because I pitied chess free against Deep Junior 8 multiprocessor version and let me tell ya, this chess free program fraught like Bruce Lee, need I say more. Chess Free knows Kung Fu!

  • Slightly Biased

Firstly let me admit that I know I'm very ad at chess. Am playing at novice level and only occasionally win. However I've noticed that repeat manouvres and other near-stalemate finishes last longer when it's already clearly obvious only the computer can win. When I'm on the cusp of checkmate it will call it a 'draw' much sooner. APART from that, the choice of boards and pieces, the animation and sound are all fantastic and highly recommended! Online would be a good addition (I have the free version). Also the additional tutorial stuff is also good, although if you pay with the levels, it's clear it was authored from only one system theory, compared to other apps.

Easy to view board, good opposition. Only complaint is opponent moves are too fast to see, have to examine board each time.
  • Great but needs Rotation....

This is a great app but needs rotation on iPad. I also wish the opponent moves could be slowed down. Often I have to do "take back" to see what has happened!! Very intuitive interface that chess lovers will readily warm to..... I am hooked on this app... Hope we can see rotation soon........
