My 95% speaks for itself!

Only studied using this app for my test and loved it! Not only because it actually had a lot of the same questions in the real test, but also because of the detailed explanation of each answer.

Got a 95% on my test, I was able to review a lot of concepts and even cleared up some existing doubts.

Thank you Dauntless!

A joy to use

Great graphics, well written explanations, quick updates, and options for how to review questions. Used their line of prep material for COM and CFI and am now working on CFII.

Be sure to purchase the add-on audio presentation, load it on your smartphone, and make those endless commuting hours productive. Both the test prep and audio add-on are BARGAINS!!!

Exactly what I needed

Over the course of my flying career I've used most all the FAA test prep products from the Gleim books to the Sporty's CDs to the King videos. I found this application to be just what I needed - portable, complete, easy to use, no software glitches, adjustable to my study pace and inexpensive. I purchased the app for my iPad and studied leisurely over the summer, on vacation, at the pool, on business trips, and in the evenings. I easily passed my CFII and Instrument Ground Instructor tests using this app. Most of the explanations are outstanding and have proven to be a great resource even after the test.
Pros:
-Works great on the iPad
-Explanations and figures are outstanding
-Same format and figures you get on the real FAA Test
-Different learning modes are great - flash card, continuous, quiz etc.

Cons:
-Got a flight planning question on the FAA test (one that requires lots of calculations) that wasn't in the app. Got it wrong - the developer site says this can happen
i.e. The FAA can spring a new question on you that GroundSchool hasn't yet published.
-I wish the iPad app had a question search function like the desk top app does.

I passed!

I used this for my PPL written a couple of years ago and I passed with a 95...it made it easy and convenient to study....just pull out the iPad on some down time and learn!

Using it now for my IFR and am loving it again. The new "audio playback" feature is the frosting on the cake...listen to the questions and answers while driving, walking the dog, getting ready in the morning, driving...how convenient!

Customer service is top notch, too. I couldn't find an answer to a question in the knowledge base, so I submitted a question through their online form and received a response within a few hours - very nice.

Highly recommended app!

Great training tool

Just started using this app. Very convenient and simple to use. Since all of the FAA questions are the same for all apps, what you really want is a system that has a great training program built in and a useful interface. This one is great!

Great test prep

This app is great for test prep. It is perfect for pilots who already have the basic knowledge and need to prep for the exam quickly. Use the stacks feature to focus study on areas you have trouble with. The updates seem to have fixed several glitches with getting updates.

Overall very nice

Passed written test with flying colors, a 93%. Overall a very useful and positive product. Be sure you know your material well and do not just memorize the answers because some questions on actual test were cleverly re-worded, used different figures, and contained correct answers used in other actual test questions to confuse the memorization type studyers. Very pleased with layout and question "stacks". Will purchase again for future ratings.

Fantastic

Fantastic app for studying for your FAA IFR written exam. I was debating between the PC version and the iPad version. I am really glad I chose the iPad version. I find studying more comfortable using the iPad than a PC. Plus I can run the same app on my iPhone for a quick study session.

I was worried the exam figures would be hard to see and manipulate on the iPad platform. But that is not a problem. I have not found any issues at all with using the iPad over a PC/Mac.

Plus the app has a really nice system of categorizing already answered problems. All problems are first placed in category 3. If you answer the question correct, the question is moved to a lower category (i.e. category 4). Answer incorrect and the question is upgraded to a category 2. Over time the questions you find "easy" fall to category 5 while questions you frequently get wrong float to the top. You can then tell the program to only give you questions which are in category 1 and 2. Once all of the questions are categorized "4 or 5", go take the test.

I do have one suggestion for a future release:
I wish the app had a way to "write" on the test figures. Or at least a scratch page for drawling out the problem.

Very smooth!

I purchased this app in conjunction with the PC version and truth be told, they are virtually identical. The iPad interface is very intuitive and I love the feature that allows you to go back after a finished test and retry only those questions missed. I wish the real FAA exam let you know which ones you missed! Definitely worth every penny and I will be getting the commercial version as soon as I ace, with the help of this software, my instrument written. Way to go Dauntless!

I doubted it at first

I was hesitant to spend so much on an app to help me study, but I studied for a week and got a 92% and the questions I got wrong were because I second guessed myself. Aviation is expensive, but compared to the cost of flying and even taking the written... This is nothing. Worth every penny. Having it at the convenience of your iPad.... Priceless.

I only wish there was a way to make a practice test of 60 questions from any category.
