Good magazine - terrible app
I’m subscribed to several e-magazines and this one is by far the worst. For a start each issue takes an age to download (20+ minutes for the current one). Another magazine I subscribe to took about 10 seconds at the same time with the same internet connection and a similar amount of content. The next problem is that it crashes - a lot. This seems to happen mainly during pinching to zoom in or out. There is an option to read articles in a more iPad friendly way but it jumps out of that view suddenly for no apparent reason. A really annoying problem I’ve encountered is that when the app crashes it often says I need to re-download the issue (it has the cloud symbol with the down arrow). If I have an internet connection this resolves itself straight away but I subscribe to these magazines because I do a lot of long haul flying so once it says I need to download the issue again I’m stuffed for the rest of the flight - this has happened more than once! There are also other publications in the back catalogue that I’d like to buy but it won’t let me - where the price should be is just a spinning wheel. This is a great magazine but the app is awful. Other magazine apps can be really slick with a download time of just a few seconds so it is possible to get it right. I won’t be renewing unless there’s a massive quality improvement.
