Passably good
I love the app and it’s features generally, but there are simply gaps in the database, birds in the various books that I refer to that are not on the app. This is frustrating when I want to record a sighting and the bird doesn’t exist according from the app.
App Transfer
I just got a new phone and was wondering if this app can transfer bird lists between phones.
Absolutely fantastic! Better than many of my bird books
Incredibly helpful illustrations showing birds of different ages/seasons/sexes. Beautiful illustrations and great feature of having bird calls and a map. The best and only bird app I need.
Best guide to Oz birds
No other Australian bird app field guide comes even close. The book this app is built from still beats all for speed and ease of use and density of information, but that’s because a single digital screen will never equal 200 pages of “screens”. Stop bashing the app and wait for the update to fix the app. Patience folks. This is software. :)

Latest update missing osprey!
No osprey in IOC update!
Response from developer
Good Day There were a few missing species in the IOC index with update V1.5, these should now be fixed in V1.5.1. Please contact us at support@mydigitalearth.com if you have any more issues. Regards
Where’s the Gang-Gang?
Great app! I’m enjoying adding to my bird list!
However, it seems that this same app from the Australian App Store has more birds in it. My stepfather and I have compared notes and there are many missing in my app that he has in his app. Can you please update? I’d like to add my Gang-Gang sighting!

Good where it counts
This app is good for what it delivers - but since it's launch in 2016 there hasn't been an update. There are a few usability issues that could be improved - eg. Showing both birds' names when doing side by side comparison, not displaying the warning box all the time about side by side, not clearing your search text if you then apply a location filter. So usability is niggly but despite this it is very helpful for IDs in the field, which is what really counts. Some would criticise some illustrations as inaccurate, but it's a good starting point and handy in the field.

Missing many species
I like the ease and layout of the app. It’s huge shortcoming is the lack of content. Really, only 23 of 58 honeyeaters? No cassowary? 4 of 13 monarchs? 2 of 11 thornbills?
The list goes on and on. Too bad. Now I have to carry my Pizzey and Knight with me.

Problem with purchasing both Lite and Reference Versions
If you download the Lite version then buy the full version, the full version doesn’t show up in purchased apps and attempts to share the full version results in only the Lite version being shared. There are numerous issues in addition requiring an update but 2 years on, there have been no revisions (see comments on the Lite version).

Ditch those heavy books
This app is revolutionary. There is no need to carry around heavy guide books anymore. There is a list function to catalogue sightings including gps coordinates. Other handy features include the location setting; the smart search and the audio clips. The location setting lets you narrow down the list by state. The smart search lets you search by size, colour or main feature. The audio clips are invaluable to help you identify different birds. Although I would hate to think if people playing them in the field and bothering birds. My only slight grumble is the artwork is slightly off sometimes.
