A weekend go-to
One of my favourite apps on a weekend morning. Has been for years. Knocked off a start though because sometimes it glitches such that I have delete then re-download it for anything to load.
Think twice before purchasing
We initially signed up for Houzz to use for our real estate design business. The product is not user friendly and cannot print documents for clients easily. For 3 months we found ourselves not using the product and paying $200 a month for a service we don’t use we decided to cancel. To our surprise if we didn’t cancel within the first 30 days you are forced into a full year subscription of $200 a month. I contacted customer service to see if they can cancel as we are early into the product and since we will not be using the product paying $200 for a full year is not feasible. To my surprise the rep (Jose) assisting me in canceling could care less about the customer experience and had a take it or leave it attitude. Shows that they deal with this issue a lot and customers really don’t have an option to cancel.

Renovations
My go to is Houzz. I can get a sense of how a room might look.
Productivity Saver & Therapy at the Same Time!
I have shared this app with friends, family snd even strangers I notice browsing home improvement magazines at the store. Everyone thanks me profusely. I have a house that was built in 1932 that has charm and strong bones. However, as it is approaching 100 years old, there are many features that need to be updated. I don’t want to simply replace but improve. Working a full-time and demanding job leaves little time to explore all the possibilities that I could do with my space. Perusing through Houzz always gives me many ideas, solutions, as well as contractors who can actually do the work. Time saved means less stress to getting home projects done.
My sister uses it similarly, but also confided that she often looks through the pages as a way to calm herself before entering a doctor or dentist visit. LOL!

The APP stinks!
What have you guys done to the app? I’ve been using this program for over five years since our house burned down in a wildfire gathering information for a rebuild that finally is here! And now that I really need the app, the app just cycles and cycles and cycles. I can’t get it to function. I have to update constantly and even when I update it doesn’t work! I’m really getting frustrated because I’m finally able to rebuild my house and I can’t get into my idea books I can’t look up information to help me with our rebuild, so can you please do something that actually works? The app used to work just fine - maybe we should stop all the updating nonsense and just leave the program be the way it was five years ago! It’s not irritating enough to work through all the nonsense of a rebuild but now what used to be a fun simple way to find ideas for your house has become a useless waste of time!

Paradise of creativity
I have been looking into Houzz from a very long time for design inspiration and more than that it is kind of meditative for me when I go through the designs. It makes me feel like there is nothing right or wrong in designing. Everything can blend seamlessly with each other like how we see in nature.
We just have to LOVE what we put in our surroundings for a peaceful inviting creation♥️

Good, but…
I enjoy the Houzz app. I’ve been using the Houzz app for a few years now, primarily for putting together Ideabooks to share with friends, family, designers, and contractors, as I’m preparing to do a few updates on my house. I think Houzz does a decent job of suggesting similar photos based on previously saved pictures, but I’m ready for an upgraded app with the following:
1) Recognizing that interior design and architecture trends come and go, I am ready for a date filter based on when a project was completed in real life. I don’t know how long Houzz has been around, but I’m sure as project photos are posted, they could ask the project poster to state when the project was completed, going back years. If Houzz is around long enough, then in 10-20 years, photos from the 2010s can be easily found for when adults at that time want the “retro” vibe they grew up with.
2) I’m also ready for a “dislike” button. Just to give the algorithm a bit more information in order to refine what it shows as “more ideas”.
Ok, thanks! I look forward to the updates, HOUZZ!

Super stale content, glitch app w/ abysmal algorithms
Have been seeing the same photos served in feed hundreds of times over 5 years there’s hardly ever any new content. Most of the photos are of builder quality homes without a lick of design sense. Worst of all the app fails to save at least 10-20% of photos I do like to idea books. Often times changing the idea book doesn’t work making categorization a game of roulette. The algorithms for finding “similar” photos for an existing idea book rarely even identify which room I want to see more of. I’m sick of getting served kitchens when I’m in an idea book exclusively of bedrooms. Or getting exterior photos when looking at exclusively laundry rooms. Whoever is managing this app is literally asleep at the wheel and has been for years. Fire the app team and hire some product managers that actually care about user experience.

The Decorating Diva
Love Houzz but I’m not getting the leads I hoped for. It’s a lot of money and no return.
I enjoy the images of
Interior Design work and results but I don’t like that it has become more of sales pitch platform !
