Very slow

I find this app very frustrating. Takes forever to open a recipe on iPad, I’m using a brand new one. Works very well on iPhone but I’ve downloaded all my back issues, about ten years worth, on the iPad so want to keep using it. Bookmarks are also unpredictable to load and access recipes. Content is excellent, just let down by poor app.

Not a good layout

Not happy

Constantly shutting down and so slow

The recipes and magazine are great on the whole. However, the app is extremely frustrating to use- the pages take ages to load even when connected to WiFi. The bookmarked pages don’t show and the app constantly crashes, shuts itself down. When you return to the App, you have to reload the magazine manually to continue reading, which is frustrating and time consuming.

Robbery

Robbed of £5.99 to buy one issue, on reading issue I then can’t access half the recipes without a paywall popping up inviting me to “complete your collection” for £50! Sorry, I’ve paid for my issue - not half of it that I then apparently have to pay 10x as much again to access?! Shocking and unacceptable. Never ever buying an issue again.

Such a terrible app

God you need to do something about this. The app is so laggy and slow and I appear to not be able to scroll through a recipe until the app has been open for at least 5minutes. If you expect people to pay for these things they should at least bloody work.

Good recipes, pity about the performance

The recipes in Good Food are inspiring and reliable, BUT the performance of the app is woeful. Pages take seconds to load, the app doesn’t remember where you were so you have to reopen the page every time. It all makes it really painful to browse through when planning meals and frustrating when you just want to check the ingredients before shopping or getting something out of the freezer. Bought a new iPad this year as performance on my old one was so unbearably bad, but even so it’s abominably slow.

Very poor replacement for physical magazine

I have been a subscriber to the physical magazine for many years and decided to switch to the digital version this year to be more environmentally friendly. However I have found it very frustrating and have cancelled my subscription.
It is extremely difficult to navigate. You cannot see a whole page at once and need to scroll up and down, which often does not work, with constant sticking. You must then go back to the top to get to the next page, and then scroll again to see the rest of the page.
It is also not possible to print a page or download it, which I expected to be one of the chief benefits of a digital version, and this makes it very difficult to use recipes effectively.
Very disappointed with this app in place of the physical version.

Terrible App

I cancelled my subscription at the end of 2022 because I got fed up of how buggy and slow the app is. Someone bought me a subscription for Christmas though so I’m back again it’s just as bad if not worse. I’d recommend looking at the other food mag apps before spending your money on the good food subscription.

Content great. App horrible

I’ve had this since 2013 and rely on it as my go to for healthy eating and planning menus.

There are great recipes with full nutritional information (that’s why you fail NYT cooking).

A nice mix of quick and easy along with longer cooking times for someone who works, but does all the cooking.

The app, however, is abominable. Pages, even on a downloaded issue, load so slow. Before the page loads, swiping left and right works, but nothing else, so you end up going to a different recipe instead of scrolling down to the one you wanted. 21 seconds from tap to loaded? Are you joking?

Bookmarks from the previous version are gone. Stop doing this.

Only the content from the most recent “upgrade” is searchable - which is also abysmally slow.

Bookmarks used to be sorted by when you added the page. This meant I could go back to my bookmarks, unflag and reflag to pop a recipe to the top. Very helpful in menu planning for the week and seeing what I haven’t made in awhile.

Bookmarks page will sometimes not load with just an error.

Most of my library is now digital screen shots. This increases the time it takes to find a recipe in the bookmarks.

Didn’t need a dark mode

Features needed:
Elastic search that uses tags like the categories in instant recipe finder. I don’t want every recipe that mentions rice when trying to make stir-fry rice.

Print recipe. If I’m cooking a big meal, switching recipes is a pain. Printing screen shots is a waste because of the layout.

Recipe feedback. There are recipes which have errors like missing the ingredients. December 2022, warm winter bean salad. Other recipes list an ingredient but don’t use it in the instructions.

Shopping list (used to have this)

Unit converter. The old issues have metric and English units.

Robbing gits with no help to unsubscribe.

Just the worst customer service. If you’ve put purchased through apple then you won’t have any help to unsubscribe.
Apart from the app being unusable I also have to continue paying £40 a year for the privilege.
Customer service initially tried to assist then what they thought was their final attempt of help closed my complaint off and now I have to start the process again.
I’m computer savvy and yet it’s impossible to cancel, even they can’t do it!
Stay well clear!
