  • Fun for the cribbage player

Fun game if you enjoy cribbage, skill levels create more challenges, easy to use, and fun to play
  • Bad update

Updated the app, now when I try to login in it consistently comes up with an error. Never had this problem before the update. Fix it!
  • Playing PC

Sometimes playing a computer is more brutal than playing the brutal games. But I do enjoy the challenge.
  • I Don’t Take Political Advice From Card Games

Ads are a reflection of the developer. While I have somewhat enjoyed this app over the years, and being rather cheap, I understand the need for ads to support the effort and have tolerated them. I do not expect to find ads supporting the impeachment of the president nor surveys that only count if you reveal an email address in a game of cribbage, something used to relax and escape. I shall be deleting this app now after several years of playing. I do not consider these ads appropriate for the medium. You could have refused them. That you didn’t leads me to no longer be counted in your statistics. I will not reply to any developer requests on this one. Good Bye.

  • Riddled with problems

Ok for passing five minutes, but don’t expect the same level of challenge you’d get against real players.

The fundamental problem is, it can’t peg points any better than a drunken gibbon, at any difficulty. This would normally hand every game to you, the player, so in order to balance this, the deck is fixed to produce a more balanced score. The higher the difficulty, the more unbalanced and obvious this becomes, consistently producing some very unrealistic hands and games.

Finally, the high score tables have been generated by the publisher. If each game takes approximately 5 minutes to complete, then those alleged scores on the top 50 chart would require a year or mores worth of play. Without interruption for sleeping, eating, working and a life in general.

If the pegging algorithm can be sorted out and score charts run for a month only, then this could be a credible game. Unfortunately, updates for this are sparse to say the least.

    Try someone else’s offering.

  • Cribbage Pro

I enjoy this program a lot! I play at the brutal level and at first, I thought the dealing was too good to be true as the computer got a lot of big hands! I figured out if you went for a big hand, that you often received the right cut! Maybe nots organdy. But it is fun getting big hands! I think that I beat the computer more often than not! But you definitely get bigger hands at this level, and there can be significant lead swings!

  • Not realistic deals reduces enjoyment quit a bit

Updated Update: this game has become too unreal for enjoyment. I am going to seek another option. Name for 'advanced' changed to 'brutal' but that belies what the game is. The game is unrealistic and tests not one's ability to play the game but one's tolerance for the computer receiving unbelievably good hands a non-randomly measured percent of the time. Frankly, 'brutal' really means 'brutally out of touch with reality'. And it seems to be getting worse. Frankly, it is taking the fun out of playing.

While I enjoy playing this App a lot, at the advanced level it does not come close to reality. Just be prepared to lose 60% of the games regardless how well you are doing as the app will consistently catch 12, 14, 16 and more points in hand and juicy cribs as well while you scrounge out your best with crappola hands. Skill plays a part in cribbage but nowhere near as much as luck and the app has odds defying luck. "Advanced" should have to do with knowledge and skill. Cribbage depends A LOT on the cards one is dealt. At the Advanced level, Cribbage Pro takes a significant detour from reality. Better and more realistic randomizing of the cards to represent reality would make it more enjoyable. I do think it is the best of the cribbage apps I have tried but it just does not come close to reality and that is a shame.

Crib is a great game, best played, of course with 2 players .....However, in idle times this is a good substitute. 3 playing levels, #2 represents a good challenge and #3 is a real challenge. Pretty good standard of play albeit sometimes relying on value of points in hand rather than playing potential or avoidance of gifting opportunities to opponent in the box. Slightly annoying adverts still persist despite converting from free to paid option. Good value apart from that.

  • Favoritism

The reviews about the computer getting better hands is 100% correct. The developer says that all hands are dealt completely randomly. But the developer does not say the cut is random. It is completely unrealistic how many times the cut helps the computers hand and crib. While the hands may be dealt randomly, the computer knows exactly what’s in each players hand and helps the computer. Also, in multiplayer mode - if you are a new player or don’t play very often- the computer gives better hands to the player who plays a lot of games. They know the player who plays a lot is going to see the advertising more, therefore want them to come back and gives them better hands to win. There is no denying these points, no matter what the developer says.

    Developer Response

To be very clear, regardless if you choose to believe it or not, all play in the game (single player and online multiplayer) is completely fair in all possible ways. When you tap to select the cut card from the deck, the card you get is the card in the position you selected in the completely randomly shuffled deck. The computer is not picking your card for you. You claim that we do not say the cut is random, but the fact is that the deck is completely randomly shuffled and the card you cut is the card you get every time. It is true that the computer could be written to cheat and know what you have in your hand, but it would have to be explicitly written that way, and that is simply not the case. If you have read our many blog posts on this topic you can see we have even offered to let people view the very code used in the game to prove our point beyond any doubt. Finally, with respect to online multiplayer games, there is absolutely no favoritism of any kind towards any players for any reason. Your logic about why we could want "players who play a lot" to win more often is heavily flawed, in that if we did that then no new players would want to play (like you yourself are saying) and the game would never grow. We are a business, and growth is good. We very much want new players to come and enjoy the game and grow the number of players playing and enjoying the game. That is far more valuable to everyone than just keeping a small set of long time players winning. The idea that we would only want to keep existing players happy would not be a good business strategy and is absolutely not what the game is doing. Again, we have audited the system many times for fairness and published those results in several blog posts discussing this. I realize this will likely not persuade you directly, but hopefully others who may read your review will take a moment to consider my response and understand we have done everything humanly possible the keep the game fair in every respect.
  • Advertising on the screen during the game...

I enjoy playing this version even though I don't seem to be able to win very often, but my complaint is about the bottom of the game on the screen! There is constant advertising running for you to download puzzles, etc. This is so distracting that I no longer care to play! I hadn't played for awhile, but when I did yesterday I found this annoying movement at the bottom of the page the whole game. I don't see how to get rid of it. It draws my attention to that rather than the game. The advertising will only make me stop using the site rather than download what is being shown. I wish this could be eliminated!
