GREED
I don’t buy it that you need £9.99 a week from everyone to keep the app afloat . Well done for alienating most of your loyal Splice users, I expect you’ll notice us leaving by the thousands now , but just make sure you give a big pat on the back to whoever persuaded you this was a good idea .
If I could give no stars , I would .
I’m shocked and appalled that you think users are willing to pay this- you think that because we use the app, and have been loyal Splice users (and recommenders to others ) that we need Splice THAT MUCH that we’ll just blindly pay weekly ?!?!
Splice is gone from my phone as of NOW, and frankly , I don’t care about projects I’ve lost , or the ones I now can’t save unless I pay you .
Forget it .
I’m sure you’ll give me a ‘developers response ‘ saying that you are sorry that the paywall you have inflicted on your loyal fan base wasn’t up to my expectations , but I think you’ll find nobody expected the pure GREED of £9.99 a week either.
With all the hard work put in over the years by your developers to make this app what it was , with such a base of loyal believers in Splice , you really have turned this into a Greek Tragedy , the lesson you will learn from it is about GREED.
Goodbye Splice.
GREED
Use to be a good app. Now the developers have sucked out all the good stuff that was in there before and pushed it under the subscription model as all greedy developers are doing. All the updates now try and make you sign up for a subscription. Nothing more than GREED. These types of developers want their hand in our wallets and bank accounts forever as they bleed money from us each month. Should be a simple model of you purchase a software package and thats it. And you choose to update or upgrade if YOU wish. The subscription model is one where they try and prise more and more money from us. Even the updates do not inform you that if you update you will be taken to the subscription model. Even more unscrupulous GREED. So their app now lets you use the tools to create a video. Oh but then try and save it…. Wait you need a subscription to do that, that you could do BEFORE they implemented a subscription. Disgusting these developer practices. Oh and the new subscription app doesn't let you take YOUR videos out of it now, nor play properly… wait for it… unless you of course pay the subscription. You developers DO NOT have the RIGHT to force this on to us, let alone mine/our devices. You should be honest and tell us an update moves to a subscription. Just GREEDY DISGUSTING practices. Oh and notice that the subscriptions will cost customer more than it was to purchase a package in the first place.
Response from developer
Hi! Thank you for your feedback, we’re sorry to hear that the current subscription options didn’t live up to your expectations. Our developers put a lot of effort and hard work to continuously improve the quality of our service: that’s why we prefer to ask you to pay for a subscription rather than ruining your experience with unpleasant ads or limiting the offer. However, we believe it’s important to offer you a free trial useful for you to try out all the functionalities before committing to a subscription. If you decide not to keep using the app once the trial is over, you can easily cancel your subscription. We invite you to try it out and to let us know what you think by dropping an email to hello@spliceapp.com.
App has become unusable
Splice has become a cash cow
So easy to use, a must have for content creators
What sets Splice apart is its flexibility—whether I’m putting together a quick social media clip or a longer video, the app handles it all effortlessly. The music library is a fantastic bonus, offering a variety of tracks that fit any mood or style.
Overall, Splice has really helped me up my content game. If you’re serious about video editing on the go, this app is a no-brainer!
Absolute greed
It’s such a shame such a brilliant app has been utterly ruined by corporate greed. £120 per year is possibly the least value for money you could find on the market. Professional software on a computer isn’t even that expensive. Truly well done for destroying something so brilliant.
Don’t buy this app, they will probably ask for £100 a month next week. If I could rate 0 stars I would.
Another fabulous creative app destroyed.
Upon reopening the app for the first time in a while today, I’ve discovered the whole thing has been paywalled. Crestfallen. Not to mention, it’s a total waste of a good app. As if anyone is going to pay £40 a month for an editing app on a phone… If you need to edit something that badly, you may as well pay similar prices for a proper NLE on a desktop and do so much more than what Splice can offer. Only ever needed it for small edits and it was so handy. SO genuinely disappointed. The only people who need this app need it very occasionally to cut stuff together. Anyone who needs it WEEKLY will be using Premiere Pro or Final Cut or the like. Charging them a weekly fee for an app that they’ll use once or twice a month at most is daylight robbery.
NOTE: if it was a one-time payment, I’d gladly pay it and would have gladly paid it years ago. It’s a good app and deserves to be paid for. Was always surprised that it was free. But £9.99 a WEEK? Kidding yourselves! Guess the one time payment wouldn’t line enough pockets, huh?
Don’t use!!
😡😠
From best video editing app ever to the one I want to Uninstall now
Didn’t use the app for almost a year and last week when i updated the app when I had to join a video clip I was suprised the app is no longer free, I will have to delete most of my save projects to create a new, thought it still has free options but I was gutted to se 5 minutes ago when App was not updated I had the option to at least export the project in 4K. It was gone now unless I pay or start the trial which i would never want to.
It took me a long time to learn and master the splice and unfortunately have to move to capcut now. I do not have any real need to buy this app and it would have been appreciated if some pro options like export would have 5 exports per months available for free and more than that people will need to buy.
I have over 100 videos of my kids in my iPhone tagged as created with Splice which I joined over the years and sadly it will be also be a memory now..
It takes forever to upload. Edit
Thank you splice for resolving the matter. I feel splice has become better in past 2 months and I’m seeing some new features and music that i love. AI feature is Also great although i prefer to edit manually but hopefully I’ll get better with AI one day. Please increase music library and songs up to 3,4 minutes long. And make sure they can be used without any copyright infringements on all social media platforms.
