  • App has become unusable

I loved the app for its straightforward and intuitive video editing interface—enough that, for years, I overlooked issues like slow uploads and frequent errors forcing restarting the app. However, now it has become entirely unusable. I have spent hours over the last several days attempting to upload media to a new project, and the app continually gets stuck on a loading screen, never actually allowing me to select media to upload. This step was always slow and frequently required restarting the app before it worked, but now I let it sit for half an hour at a time and it still never loads. The two or three times my camera roll did actually load and I thought it might be working, I ran into an error once I selected media and could never successfully load it into a new project (and upon restarting the app, I was back to a never-ending loading screen). I attempted to contact support and received an automatically generated reply about app crashes that was not relevant to the issue I was having. I followed the instructions to supply a video of the issue I was having, and got no reply (which was no surprise, as past outreach to support has gone unanswered). At this point, after hours of wasted time, I have to conclude that this app is no longer just glitchy with poor support, but entirely unusable and a waste of time and money.

  • Splice has become a cash cow

I downloaded this app 7 years ago and fell in love with video production and editing because of it. At the time, Splice had pretty much anything you needed without any subscriptions or purchases. Over the years there have been updates that have significantly improved the app and added features like chroma key. The app was in a constant rate of improvement up until i think 2021 or 2022. Up until then I used the app very frequently and made many projects but I eventually stopped using it. I would go on every couple months but rarely made projects. At some point I realized they added a subscription for the app but since I already had the app installed everything was available for me. I was happy about that since I felt that made sense. I went on the app recently to make a video for a friend and was pretty shocked to see how the app looked like an advertisement explosion for a pro subscription. Pop ups everywhere and limited features. I realized I had the base subscription which I was fine with since I assumed you would still be able to use the app. Almost all the important features now require the pro subscription. Transitions, Music, Captions all require the pro subscription. The worst part, you can’t even export your videos anymore. You need the pro subscription to even save the video you made. It’s sad since I really loved this app in its prime and hate to see it become this. Download capcut or adobe rush

  • So easy to use, a must have for content creators

I’ve been using Splice for a little while now, and it’s become my go-to video editing app. The interface is intuitive, making it easy for both beginners and pros to create high-quality videos. I love how smooth the editing process is, with a great range of tools, transitions, and effects that really elevate my content. The app handles everything from basic trims to more advanced edits without any hiccups.

What sets Splice apart is its flexibility—whether I’m putting together a quick social media clip or a longer video, the app handles it all effortlessly. The music library is a fantastic bonus, offering a variety of tracks that fit any mood or style.

Overall, Splice has really helped me up my content game. If you’re serious about video editing on the go, this app is a no-brainer!

  • Absolute greed

I purchased this app outright a number of years ago as it was such a useful and well put together piece of software. However, on my latest update the software I had been using is now suddenly behind an extortionate subscription paywall that prevents me from using features I could use just the day before. How is it even acceptable or even legal that something I had outright purchased now gets put behind a paywall. It’s like my phone suddenly having an update and making me pay a subscription to make a phone call. I have purchased this product already, why am I now having to pay to continue using it?

It’s such a shame such a brilliant app has been utterly ruined by corporate greed. £120 per year is possibly the least value for money you could find on the market. Professional software on a computer isn’t even that expensive. Truly well done for destroying something so brilliant.

Don’t buy this app, they will probably ask for £100 a month next week. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

  • Another fabulous creative app destroyed.

Used to be the most wonderful app, so easy to use and has been incredibly handy over the years when I’ve needed to do a small chop or two on a video or touch up some colours. I even remember remarking at one point about the fact that it offered as much as it did and yet hadn’t been completely destroyed by subscriptions.

Upon reopening the app for the first time in a while today, I’ve discovered the whole thing has been paywalled. Crestfallen. Not to mention, it’s a total waste of a good app. As if anyone is going to pay £40 a month for an editing app on a phone… If you need to edit something that badly, you may as well pay similar prices for a proper NLE on a desktop and do so much more than what Splice can offer. Only ever needed it for small edits and it was so handy. SO genuinely disappointed. The only people who need this app need it very occasionally to cut stuff together. Anyone who needs it WEEKLY will be using Premiere Pro or Final Cut or the like. Charging them a weekly fee for an app that they’ll use once or twice a month at most is daylight robbery.

NOTE: if it was a one-time payment, I’d gladly pay it and would have gladly paid it years ago. It’s a good app and deserves to be paid for. Was always surprised that it was free. But £9.99 a WEEK? Kidding yourselves! Guess the one time payment wouldn’t line enough pockets, huh?

  • Don’t use!!

I use this app so much this app I use more than any other app I use because I’m a YouTuber and so this is my main editing app next to CapCut CapCut my second one but looks like it’s gonna be my first one because this app totally makes me mad now that it has like a subscription and every time I try to export my video it keeps on telling me to get the subscription subscription it asked me three times to get the subscription pack when I was trying to export it I had to press export three times. I am more than mad. I’m furious because this was my favorite rap ever and I was able to use music and I was able to do a bunch of stuff that I could do in CapCut without a subscription. CapCut has extra cool stuff that I need a subscription for what this just put the subscription on completely random useful things just to get you to subscribe to the app, please do not get this app because it just cuts off everything you can do from Music all the way to like switching up the transitions and all you can do is put together simple video with no music no nothing and just added it basically just put some videos together and then export it after three times pressing the export button and waiting for the suggestions to end. You don’t get a free app unless you wanna pay $10 every month then yeah you could totally get it but I wouldn’t if you’re looking for a free app it used to be completely free thanks a lot splice you ruined my total career on being a YouTuber thanks a lot.

  • From best video editing app ever to the one I want to Uninstall now

Been using splice from around 4-5 years just for basic kids videos and mainly joining couple of videos to make a single one to be used as a memory. Had number of projects saved and I always loved the fact Splice was free.

Didn’t use the app for almost a year and last week when i updated the app when I had to join a video clip I was suprised the app is no longer free, I will have to delete most of my save projects to create a new, thought it still has free options but I was gutted to se 5 minutes ago when App was not updated I had the option to at least export the project in 4K. It was gone now unless I pay or start the trial which i would never want to.

It took me a long time to learn and master the splice and unfortunately have to move to capcut now. I do not have any real need to buy this app and it would have been appreciated if some pro options like export would have 5 exports per months available for free and more than that people will need to buy.

I have over 100 videos of my kids in my iPhone tagged as created with Splice which I joined over the years and sadly it will be also be a memory now..

  • It takes forever to upload. Edit

Hi, I’m a regular user of splice and I loved this app and used it for almost 8 month now. I liked this app so much that I purchased yearly subscription but I’m really disappointed 🙁cause its not working fast and efficiently anymore. Media files I want to work on, they take forever to upload to splice from gallery to work on. It’s happening for past month now. Earlier I was able to quickly transfer large files ,more than 30 min clips within seconds to splice and edit them. Now even if I make 5-10 min videos and try to transfer them to app for editing they just don’t transfer… Secondly I was able to edit my iPhone 13 pro max 4K video earlier now after editing I have to reduce quality to 1080p so I can save my edited video to upload on my socials. Kindly fix these issues… guide me or I’ll have to cancel my yearly subscription. For all these reasons I would give Splice ⭐️⭐️

Thank you splice for resolving the matter. I feel splice has become better in past 2 months and I’m seeing some new features and music that i love. AI feature is Also great although i prefer to edit manually but hopefully I’ll get better with AI one day. Please increase music library and songs up to 3,4 minutes long. And make sure they can be used without any copyright infringements on all social media platforms.

  • Terrible Since Newest Update - 10/10 DO NOT Recommend

Newest update has made app glitchier and laggy (likely to force loyal users to upgrade to Pro for the ripoff price of $119/year), and as of this morning, the developers have now made simple features like reversing a video or exporting a video only accessible with a “Pro,” as well. For the exact same cost, you could just buy Canva Pro (which has 100x the design and media format capabilities of Splice and is mobile friendly), or for double, you could pay for Premiere Pro (which also has far more sophisticated editing tools AND integrates with other Adobe programs). It’s really shameful and disturbing that Splice is exploiting and manipulating a really loyal user base (in my case for 7-8 years) of content creators, social managers, and editing enthusiasts who have been grateful to have a product to accomplish simple but detailed editing without exorbitant costs. I’m guessing the new force on its long term subscribers to upgrade to Pro is to fund the developing/maintenance costs of this poor quality, irrelevant AI editor that literally no one asked for (and that could be offered in a separate app or plan tier). If you are looking for a solid, accessible video editor with functionalities like music extraction, clip reverse, speed controls, volume controls, and decent transitions at a reasonable price, I’d recommend switching to CapCut, Wondershare/Filmora, or basic Canva. RIP Splice.

  • Recent (mid July 2024) update has ruined the app

The app has slowed down incredibly. It was working fine until the recent update. I would suggest splice roll back to a older version. As others have mentioned, the app is basically unusable. This was my favourite video editing app. If the problem is not rectified shortly, I will be moving elsewhere.
