  • Wow - what an app!

I officially love all things VLC! What a fabulous app! Have been searching for an app to stream movies from my mac and am kicking myself that I only just stumbled upon this...
The streaming apps I've used previously were buggy and took up too much storage, but this app works seamlessly and what I love about VLC products is that if you can't get it to work they have support systems in place that will set it up for you. I've never had connection problems with any of their products. Other developers step aside, Hobbyist have you beat! At such a great price, this is a must have for iPad users to stream movies...

    Thank you!

  • Ron

Does a good job and allows access to all media attached to my computer, including all external drives. Also plays all formats.
  • VLC streamer

This app has worked brilliantly across all the different equipment that I have used and the latest upgraded equipment.
I highly reccommend you try it out if you want hassle free streaming across different platforms.
  • Seriously fantastic!

This is easily one of my favorite apps! I watch a lot of Korean television, but as my Korean is less than stellar, I need subtitles. Unfortunately, Viki and Dramafever can't really keep up with my insatiable appetite for more programming, so I download a lot of what they don't have available. Therein lies the problem. iPhone, Roku, PS3, none of them offer a streaming solution that will let me play .srt files so that I can have subs, at least not til this streamer came along! It's so hard to find hard subs cause fansubbers make an effort to shut down anyone who does them, so it's literally the only way I can watch my shows without being tied to the computer. My only complaint is, if my boyfriend has to shut down the computer for whatever reason, if it is in the middle of processing a file, you have to delete it and start over. Otherwise it's just stuck on processing forever.

  • Only video app you'll need!

We download all our videos onto our PC and stream in HD on to the iPad with this app. It even plays .rar files on the fly! Plus with AppleTV, you can AirPlay to your big screen TV! Great help/support provided. We tried the free version and fell in love. Get the paid version - you won't regret it. 100% recommended for everyone.

  • Awesome

Such a great program!!!!!!!! Really enjoy being able to stream shows from my mac. Now have something to watch during my wife's soaps!!!
  • Lan app great.

I use this app to watch my digital versions of movies I own that I don't want to have on my ipad all the time. The simplicity means that I am streaming from my server (media pc) to my Ipad Over my wifi network, the strain on the server is large and you do need to install their vlcstreamer software onto the server, but once this is done I have not had an issue with this. I gave 4 Stars this rating because It would be better if I did not have to come into vlcstreamer each time to watch a movie, you have to use the program to watch your movies on your IPad, I would have liked to have them included into my video section and not be counted as app data.

    Enjoy I certainly do!

  • Great app back on form

They've fixed the bugs that were causing it to crash on my computer and it's back on form as a great simple way to stream and copy videos to my iPhone and iPad.
The drag and drop couldn't be simpler and the resolution is always fine for me on those devices.

The only thing I'd fix is the ability to turn off subtitles from the device (for when I've forgotten to reset my download settings) - but I assume that would involve a complete do-over of its structure, and would take up much more room than the compact files do now... So I'm happy to live without it.

  • Wonderful!

This app is the one feature of the iPad that tipped the scales and made me buy it. Wireless video anywhere in my house, constant sharing, very fast encoding (provided you have a decent computer)
The only one problem with it, is the seeking and playback of movie files over 40-something minutes.. I hope this is fixed very soon! As I've resorted to using a different app for long movies (and all the other apps are terrible in comparison)
I would gladly pay $20+ for this software, as it's proven it's usefulness time and time again.
Thanks hobbyist software! You've made a winner!

  • Sort of

Don't bother if you have big or many video files as they need to be converted anyway. Takes ages and bogs the computer down the entire time... Not to mention your laptop runs at around 90 degrees Celsius the whole time.
