I was using an app that you had to manually add the videos, this app you can just pull them off of the computer or device as you please. I think this is the only app I bought the full version of because I plan on using it a lot... I mean a lot! Disappointed
I never thought I would be writing a negative review about VLC Streamer and I've been using it for over 2 years. I have waited patiently version after version for about 6 months now for a fix the the repeated network issues. I have changed router, phone and computer with no improvement and every other device and app I use works perfectly. Works Great!
Does exactly what it says it will do. I'm not sure how you could give this a bad review. It literally will stream 4gb pro res files from my computer. Incredible.

I had high hopes for the return of VLC to the App Store but this unfortunately doesn't work as fast as some of the competition...namely StreamToMe and Air Video both of which I use on the regular. It takes a while longer for playback to begin and the buffering seems to throw off the ability to properly seek to a specific point in the video. I guess seeking would work once an entire video has been converted but in the words of a prominent modern day celebrity "ain't nobody got time for dat!". Never worked
I've had this app on my ipad for a couple of years now and it has connected to my computer exactly never. I've gone through all the help files but it just never finds my computer. ( Manual or auto) I've been able to find other apps that do what I want (mostly find and connect to my computer) so I just use those. I kept the app hoping it would eventually update and work but no such luck. Guess I will finally get rid of it.Show lessUseOthers
Useful
The most consistently useful of the streaming apps I have tried to access content on my computer from my iOS devices. I had to move the cache off my boot SSD though, as it was filling the disk and choking performance on the computer. It wasn't instantly obvious that this was the problem.Arowoth
Wish I'd read the description
I use vlc on my laptop so thought this would be good for watching movies, does exactly what it says on the tin - streams movies from your laptop, so that must be switched on and need fast broadband to stream! Doesn't store them to hard drive. My fault not the apps.funny bugga

I don't know whether mine is not working properly or others on here are using a different app to the one they're reviewing but this app is useless! I've got a Mac Pro 2009 running Snow Leopard & MacBook Pro with Retina, I can't seem to stream any movies to my iPhone 4S nor to my iPad with Retina. The picture is pixelated & the picture jitters every second making it impossible to watch anything! Also running on 20MG broadband. Setup is straight forward so there's little to do and I've been working with computers since 1995, I don't know what I could be doing wrong so 0 points for this waste of time!Show lessStarlight7028146
Not fast enough
Great idea but its too slow to play decent size videos. Skips and has a big of a pixel fit with big files.RedDogCreative
Streams fine but fills your hardrive with doubles
Streams fine, but it creates duplicates of the movies you already have on your computer. Which is rather annoying. So if you have a lot of files, it will waste a lot of space. I thought the intention was to stream what you have, not duplicate then stream. Removed it pretty much straight away once I realised what was going on.Show lesssixty12
