  • Time-Saving Organizer!

This is a seriously helpful program and I literally use it every day! When I think of a song I want to play, I Internet-search the chords and lyrics and drop them into my set list. This operation is very fast and it encourages me to add content to my set lists.

I have three distinct musical projects right now and everything I need for each of them is in its own database. Once in a while I copy a song from one database to another.

I use my iPad 1 on stage. The songs are set to scroll in the Perform mode and this is very useful. If required by the audience I can quickly change to an unplanned song. Also, if my iPad were to fail, I have the synced program on an iPod as a back up.

I was covering a song that has an orchestral prelude. I used a synth to replicate the orchestration to an mp3, then placed the mp3 in the set list song. When I Perform the song, the mp3 plays for about 30 seconds then I begin playing guitar as the orchestra fades... Very cool!

If you play solo or in a group and find organizing you songs, lyrics, and shows to be time-consuming and inefficient, this IS your program.

Once you start using Set List Maker you will quickly realize that the programs is much deeper than you first expect.

This is my favorite and most used iPad program! My thanks to the Developer!

  • 1000% productivity increase

This app revolutionized my live pianist/vocalist performances. No longer do I lug around several 3-ring binders of music and fumble through pages falling out as I try to find some song. The automated page turner in Perform mode prevents me from ripping out pages on the fly. I have already scanned in almost 400 songs, many of which I haven't played in decades. I can now instantly access any of these songs should I have any requests.
I've had this iPad & this app for only 7 months and I am already a much better performer. My lyrics (which I've always had trouble memorizing) and chords are all right there. My live repertoire has and is expanding exponentially.
I look forward to using the MIDI functions to sent messages to my digital piano and synth in order to change settings on the fly such as patch, tempo, controller and other messages. That way when I flip to a new song, all instruments and sequences are doing what they are supposed to do.
I am still just scratching the surface of where I'm going. This intuitive interface Arlo has developed is just the miracle I needed to advance my musical endeavors. Thank you.

  • Amazing!

This app is well thought out. I've used this in performance many times on an ipad and it works great. To have all my lyrics in front of me and easy to move through is great. If you have a song with longer lyrics, you can set it begin slowly scrolling through the lyrics at a set interval of time - very adjustable. Also works with Airturn so you can trigger this by a foot pedal. A great feature I like as a guitarist is that it can send midi to another program. I use Jamup Pro for all my guitar effects. I have it set so that as soon as I select the next song, a preset from Jamup Pro is automatically selected. If I have other presets in the song, I use my 4-pedal airturn pedal to select them. There are too many features to talk about here, but just wanted to mention a few that are indispensable to me.

The developer is very responsive to questions and suggestions, and often comes out with new features.

This is a must-have for any musician.

  • Great set list tool.

I tried out a few other set list apps before trying this one. This one is more flexible, and more what I imagined a set list app should be. I paid for the upgrade to import playlists from iTunes, which is a big timesaver.

It took me a little while to figure out how the app worked, so give yourself some time for the learning curve. Still, I downloaded the app on a Saturday morning, imported the iTunes playlist that contained the songs my band performs (after aging for the .99 upgrade), took my iPad to band practice that afternoon, and built a three-set set list for our upcoming gig when practice was over.

This app contains lots of great features, and as a gigging musician, I highly recommend it. I'll be upgrading to the email feature later today so I can email the set list I created yesterday to my band.

    *** Update ***
This app has become more and more indispensable to my band. The latest feature I am making use of is its ability to send out MIDI Messages when selecting a song in Performance mode. I can now pick a song in the set list, and both of my keyboards automatically switch to the correct preset. This streamlines things tremendously. Don't wait, just buy this app!

  • Brilliant

Quite Simply the best app for performing musicians. It does everything you could ever think of, plus a whole lot more. On top of that Arlo's support is standout, better than most of the majors could offer.
  • The Solution!

I used to use a spreadsheet to track my bands songs and keep track of my equipment settings, plus I had a stack of flip cards I used for words to songs. Whenever my band changed the setlist (for just about every gig) I had to cut and paste the spreadsheet to manage the setlist, layout my program changes, and resort the word cards. I searched 3 years for a better solution, and with Set List Maker, I finally have it!

The app easily allows me to drag and drop songs around for a given show (and keep track of those shows), keeping the settings and words for each song stored with it. When we perform, a touch of the song on my ipad screen changes the settings on all of my equipment (and now my guitar player's, too) and displays the words. Another tap, and it's off on the next song.

This app is loaded with useful features I never even thought about before, and the very-supportive developer seems to add more every month! Well worth the price, whether you pay for each set of features as in-app purchase, or just buy it all from the start! I love it!

  • Life changing App

Now that I have Setlist Maker I feel like I've evolved,
    This App is fantastic!
Not only does it help me to deliver a more polished performance but it has eliminated the need for (very) bulky and awful looking books, full of charts & lyrics etc..
I recently had an issue with some functionality and contacted the developer, even though he was on leave at the time, I got a response within a few hours and the solution was already done.
There is obviously a muso behind it because it is perfect for them/us
    THANKS!
    Linda

PS: I never write reviews but was very motivated to leave this one.
    Highly recommend this app

  • Midi Bank Storage

I have to be honest; I've never used the app for its intended purpose... but I COULD NOT PLAY MUSIC WITHOUT THIS APP!!! For many years, my rig consisted of a Roland A-37 midi keyboard which controlled two sound modules (Triton-Rack and Roland Fantom XR). The keyboard was very reliable, but died after a decade of service last year. I wanted to replace it, but the world no longer embraces that type of controller. I have an Axiom, but it does not have the same type of patch storage.

Enter SETLIST MAKER: Using an iRig Midi interface and my iPhone with Set List Maker, MidiBridge, and FreEWI loaded, I can set up a "set list" that consists of my "go-to" midi patches. The apps and iPhone accessories cost only a fraction of what it would cost to replace my dead keyboard; I can use my existing old school sound modules with literally ANY keyboard that has midi out... depending on the venue, I may not even have to schlep a keyboard to the gig!

One of these days, I may actually use this Set List Maker as it was intended. In the meantime, I love its midi capabilities. Very reliable & HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

  • Great product

I recently bought my iPad mostly to do music related things. At the top of the list was scores and set list management. I was a bit disappointed with my first search through what was available and almost opted for a simple database just to keep track of songs and sets. But this application is very flexible and works well in the live environment.

I initially had some difficulties in adapting it to my environment. But the custom fields are great and allowed me the flexibility I needed. Smart lists, showing songs of different types, are very useful. I'd like to see filtering on smart lists so that just those items show up, as well as different heading options. But generally it does what it sets out to do - lets me see all the band's songs on stage and shuffle the list into a different order if needed.

Support is good. I got a quick response to my two emails.

  • Awesome app, great support

I play keyboards in a rock band, and I tried Set List Maker because of one killer feature: the ability to send MIDI patch changes. Scrambling to configure four different 'boards after each song was stressful, error-prone and killed the pace of the show. Being able to tap a song title and be ready to go redirected the glares away from me and over to the guitar player. :)

After using it for a while, I've fallen in love with other features too. The ability to attach a chart to each song is invaluable in rehearsal as well as for reference live. Editing a song's patch changes, notes, chart, etc. affects the song across all of the set lists, so you only have to do it once (for rehearsals I have a special set list containing all of our songs and I work there, and all the other set lists reflect my changes). Being able to enter the duration of each song and have the app tell me how long each set will take is extremely helpful when planning shows. The list goes on and on - this app clearly was designed by someone who gets musicians.

And lest I forget, email support is unbelievably responsive and helpful. I don't know if I happened to send in a question at just the right time, but the reply took mere minutes and was right on the money. Don't underestimate how important that is.

I would give this app 10 stars if I could. If you're still undecided, I'd encourage you to give it a try; especially if you rely on MIDI.
