This book has loads of valuable information that is greatly usable amongst my studies.
Authoritative
An excellent app, providing extensive detail on each of the world's nations, courtesy of the CIA. While some will no doubt have reservations about the CIA worldview, and regard some of the commentaries as providing only one side of a story (I.e., the US version ...), such reservations are quite misplaced. This large repository of information provides extensive details on all aspects of a nation, with demographically, trade, health, social statistics, as well as political matters. As it is regularly updated, it provides an excellent source of information for many purposes, especially if you are travelling or are interested in world events. Those who don't accept the US worldview can still find this app useful, as it provides a clear picture of that view.

Solid app.
Great app for looking up information about all the different countries offline on an ios device. Very solid app. Clean ui, and the info comes directly from the CIA website so it's reputable information.
This has crashed a bit lately; trying downloading fresh copy.
I had wanted to check why Mosul dam approach had been undefended. I think it takes a lot of facts and lessons in strategy to know anything like that.
I travel and might get ideas of a central meta phi for a country's "personality". Right now these countries seem muddled in my memory. I'm new at this.

Tracking World News
Should be a required automatic download with any world news app. This is a must have if you read the local daily paper. It fleshes out the news with basic facts often assumed in the article. ie. Size, population, location, political/governmental organization. This will greatly increase the chances of you making the correct judgement about facts in an article. And when considering traveling to an area, a bit of basic country knowledge makes thing go smoother. It is also updated regularly. This in itself makes it better than the paper copy.
