Much better than Online search
Very nice! Ive found I'm much happier having the dictionary on my phone instead of doing a Google search or looking words up online. My only complaint is that I noticed a bug with the online pronunciation feature (the app got "stuck" doing pronunciation for one word till I exited and resumed it.). This has happened only once so far.
One feature I'd like, but don't know if it's possible--when I open the dictionary with a word or phrase in the clipboard, I wish the app would look it up without my having to paste it into the search bar. (Maybe it could ask whether I wanted to look up the clipboard contents?)Show lessJmk-14321
The best English-Spanish dictionary.
This dictionary is really amazing. Complete definitions of each word are presented in both languages, in the same page, with several examples, synonyms and antonyms. I've tried several dictionaries before, but none come close to the huge amount of information provided by this one. And the price is unbeatable, specially if you compare it with the ridiculous prices set by the competitors for dictionaries not having 1/10 of the things offered by this one. The only complain: pronunciation is not available for all words and it requires an Internet connection.Show lessRodry.
The best I've used
This app is very comprehensive and hard to put down, but it isn't perfect. Most problematic for me is that very often I have to tap in the search field many times before a cursor appears. That is frustrating. Another issue for me is that it defines Spanish words in Spanish. I suspect most users speak either Spanish or English and are learning the other, so it seems that words in one language would be defined in the other language. Also, some words are displayed in the list on the side but seem to defy translation/definition (i.e., oído, sueño). When the word is selected, the app seems to process the selection endlessly. Oh, then there are many translations/definitions that display "@" in place of "a". Lastly, there is the issue of giving examples of word usage...that do not use the word at all. An excellent App!
I find this to be an extremely valuable tool in my attempt to learn the Spanish language. It is very thoughtfully assembled with an easy to use interface that seems effortless to anyone acquainted with an IPad or iPhone. The bilingual dictionary is exhaustive and features audio cues to assist in proper pronunciation. Combined with other Apps, it has helped me enormously. I would recommend it highly to anyone learning the language, or looking to expand their Spanish vocabulary. Worthy of 5 stars.Show lessKirkfg
Very disappointed by this company
Bought this product and it's really good but just days later they released a much more comprehensive dictionary with no upgrade path. I feel connedPoor-student
Great Dictionary!
Note that this is both an English to Spanish and Spanish to English dictionary.
I have a few Spanish to English dictionaries and this one is the nicest. It combines English and Spanish on the same page and lets you switch definition language with a button. The audio is synthesized, but it's very understandable and clear. You can "favorite" words for easy retrieval and it keeps a history of words you've looked up too.
Text is set to one size, but it seems large enough. A pinch to expand gesture would be nice, but not essential.
I really like the user interface, it looks classy and is very functional without a lot of confusing buttons and settings -- everything you need is on the same screen. Objectionable words can be turned off if you wish - or turned on if you want them.
