Thanks for Helping My Mom Move to Assisted Living

My Mom recently had a stroke. During this time, my brother and I agreed that based on her condition it was time for my Mom to move out of the house she had been in for 30 years and the last five years alone into an assisted living facility that would be better for her. As a divorcee of 40 years, she is incredibly independent. Magic Plan allowed me to go to her new place, map out all the dimensions with Lidar and a tape measure, and allowed her to work with her furniture and show her exactly how things would be. Instead of something that felt very pushed on her, she engaged and was active in the decision-making. If it weren't for Magic Plan, the Elevation Plan, 2d, and 3d views I'm not sure this would have been possible. I have insanely impressed with this software. While I'm not the target audience, I would encourage anyone who is themselves or has a family member moving to use it. It truly is a game changer.

Horrible for floor plans

I’m sure some of the features work great but floor plans are horrible. Multi-level home, they don’t give options for closing a plan, stairs go up, can’t close off the floor, so it doesn’t work.

The idea is cool. The reality is not

I’ve given this app multiple tries as what it says it can do is amazing. You are supposed to be able to create floor plans within the app using the Lidar functionality on your phone. I have a 15 Pro Max and it doesn’t work. You scan the whole room only to have your floor plan not save. Forget doing multiple rooms. This app would be so amazing for real estate professionals if it actually worked. Like so many apps the support is non-existent. They won’t refund you if it never works. All troubleshooting is self help. I can tell you without a doubt after three tries, a ton of self help research, and countless hours trying to get it to work, that it doesn’t work. Do not waste your money.

In response to the Developer insinuating that I wasn’t using anything other than the beta auto scan functionality …to be clear, I tried scanning a single room with every tool available and none of them work! This app simply does not work as advertised or really at all. before they try to imply that I don’t know how to use computers. I use them every day all day and I also use other LiDAR scanners. This app is the problem not the user!

Disappointing subscriptions

I’ve been with magic plan from almost the start. Back in the day where you could map your own house no problem. Then they introduced the option to pay per use of a plan, no problem I Brough my own house plan. Now to edit my own house I’ve already brought in the past I would have to subscribe to a monthly fee.

I am far from a designer or the like. Would just like to be able to add a few rooms to play with but as with almost every app these days it has a heavy cost of monthly subscriptions.

Really neat app with great support

Love the app and how it’s very user friendly. The 3D view is a really cool feature, and there is a lot of variety when building out rooms. Their customer support is very responsive and helpful, big thanks to Genevieve! Can’t recommend this app enough

Updated = price increase + removed features

Eveytime I figure out a workflow, the app is updated and changes or removes functionality. Price increase for “simplifying how you add floors” is the biggest load of garbage I’ve ever seen in patch notes. Tell your clients directly that you want more of their money for the same functionality. No way to adjust grid lines, snap rules, and many other QoL settings. ****Update Oct 2024**** Another update, more functionality buried deeper in the UI. I’ve been using this app for at least 3 years almost every day, and each update is a step backwards. So frustrated I can’t use the app today in the same way I used it yesterday.

Disappointed update

I have been a Magicplan user for around 10 years now as a professional property photographer. I have over the years saved objects which I use as part of my workflow. So today without warning whilst on my first job of the day I was told the app needed an update. After updating I realised this was a massive update with changes to the UI design.
First my favourites were all gone! Then I placed a bath and I could no longer Freeform change the dimensions by finger squeezing the ratio was locked. I had to manually change the dimensions which I then discovered for some unknown reason had defaulted to imperial measurements, whose using imperial measurements in 2024?
I then placed a kitchen sink onto the kitchen worktop I had dropped into the floor plan to find it would only place under the worktop making it invisible to the viewer.
Sensoria say they are constantly looking to improve and yet this is their first major update in 12 years.
Why did Sensopia not warn subscribers about this update, why didn’t they give subscribers the option to not update yet? Why didn’t they ask subscribers to try it out at a convenient time?
This update has really been poorly implemented and I am so disappointed. It appears to have brought features I don’t need or care about and has put major obstacles within my workflow. Come on Sensopia do better!
