  • New version doesn’t work

I commute a couple times a week in the Metra and have been faithfully using this app for the last couple years. But after an update last month, it has stopped working. I reupdated this month and it doesn’t doesn’t work. I can sign in for a train that I’m taking and it will often forget and then tell me I can “follow” the train since it doesn’t think I’m on it (previously, even if I forgot to sign in before getting on the train, it would recognize I was on the train and let me check in anyway). Also, whether I am “checked in” or following”, the app will now just show me the map with my starting and ending point and my blue dot. It used to show ETA at Union Station or my home destination and ETAs at the next stops. If there is a way to do this in the new app, I can’t find it. Please help and make it useful like it used to be!

  • Bad Updates

This app was pretty useful. Not the most accurate but pretty close and that is good enough. They recently updated the app and it’s terrible. Example, for whatever reason the are using the color yellow for some of the letter and info. You can’t see it at all, it’s completely washed out. Also, the app used to tell me what track the train will be on for stop. That is now gone and people are left to guess.

  • Directs you to scam websites

Ads on app look like links to buy tickets and direct you to scam websites with cards being used fraudulently!
  • Useless unless people participate

Good really only for finding schedules, but has no realtime data unless a user is on the train you want and has checked in so that the app can update the trains time and location.
For example, im waiting for my 7:11 train, the app tells me it has come and gone and is two stops past me. I can see it down the line, 12 minutes late. The app wont know until i board and check in.
Also, visually theres too much useless info scrolling across in small text. It takes up space and important data on the train line you are interested in has to be shrunk as a result. The bulk of riders (at least in chicagoland) are ppl going to work. They are older and many need glasses to read. It would be nice if there was an option, separate screen, whatever, that once you check into a particular line, all the extra junk goes away. If im on the milwaukee north line, i dont need to know about construction on a separate line literally hours away on the other side of the city

  • Not accurate

I use this as a train tracker so I know when the train is on time. Of the 4 days this week it was right only once. One day it was correct. The other 3 it either showed that it had left when it hadn’t or was a full station off of its true location. I continue to use it only because there is nothing else…..

  • Metra App

For someone who never used Metra and was confused with all the information out there, once I started using this app, it made everything so much easier to know train schedules I needed to know to get to and from work. Combined with the Ventra app for tickets, life got much easier.
  • METRA train Chicago Il 103rd Washington Heights

I just start riding METRA trains 2 weeks now and
I love the ride and the peace n quiet and I get to work and back to my car and home in 30 minutes is wonderful I should have been riding METRA years ago.
  • Metra

Only thing it needs a better or louder notification when you’re close to your station should you choose to turn it on.
  • Easy, convenient

I take the train more because of this app
  • Wonderful improvement

This is so much easier to use than the old app where it was not as intuitive.
