Please return the ability to compare species side by side

I find this App harder to use since the update when trying to compare similar species. It was so much easier when you could see the key ID features on the same frame.

Update is superb

This app has been very good since it first came out but the recent update is fantastic. It looks a lot more modern and it’s much easier and quicker to navigate.

Very disappointing

This is clearly a book that has just been transferred on to an app.
My advice would be but the book or something similar.
Difficult to use if an amateur, just a list of species and if you are new difficult to guide around.
Expensive, how do you get a refund?

Southern Migrant Hawker

Thank you developers. This is an update to my review of three years ago below. This new upgrade now includes full details for Southern Migrant Hawker. Plus the new layout results in a slicker look and easier to use interface which I absolutely love. Sadly the table of flight periods that was in the previous version (in the Introduction - When to look) is now missing. So, sorry but my 4 stars have to stay. BTW the preview screenshots on the App Store are for the previous version of this app . . they need updating if the developers want people to buy this app!

It took a while, but the latest revamp adds Southern Migrant Hawker.

Other species

Can Southern Migrant Hawker be added to the species list?

Excellent new updates. Many thanks.

Response from developer

Thank you for your patience. Southern Migrant Hawker is now in the app.

Excellent App

For the identification of Odonata it combines the best of both worlds: photographs of each species in its natural habitat, along with colour illustrations of each species together on the same page with similar species to facilitate comparisons. The guide also provides comprehensive coverage of each species, illustrating the differences between male, female and immature forms. A minor shortcoming is that the guide does not contain illustrations of the anal appendages of each species to assist identification in hand.

Disappointed

Well all the information is there, photos are great etc. but it is just not user friendly! No ability to compare, text/information is clumsy to access. On my iPhone 6 the whole app is made smaller with a thick black border around the outside. Really wish I had bought the book instead, which looks great!!

Five Star Stuff!

A beautifully presented app with a wealth of relevant information and superb photos. Crucially, it provides the level of detail necessary to really get to grips with identifying these charismatic creatures. Wish my eyes were good enough to actually make out the distinguishing features on blue damselflies, but at least this app shows me what I should be looking for!

Highly recommended

This guide to the dragonflies and damselflies of Britain has it all: beautiful photographs, detailed help for identification, good text and excellent layout.

Almost fantastic

A splendid app and covering almost all the Dragonflies & Damsels we get, but no Southern Migrant Hawker?? If you can kindly add that then I'll gladly give a 5 star rating. Great reference app when out and about.
