  • Excellent, Powerful, Easy to Use

I have been using PocketBible for many years on my iPhone, iPad, Mac, and PC. It has an excellent and easy to use search feature and I can easily add notes and highlights that sync across platforms.

One big advantage that is has over some other software programs is that it works great even when I do not have internet access, which is common when I am on a plane or traveling overseas.

My only disappointment is that I cannot load any French Bibles (though I can get what I need in Spanish).

  • Love it!

I have had this product since my very first Palm Pilot. It has servived every devise since then and I still have everything I have ever purchased. The resource options or phemonenal and discounts are often offered. I love this app. It makes studying the bible so easy. I always keep three panes open so I can easily switch form the bible to study notes or to a devotional. But even swithching bible versions or study reference materials is simple. The Study function seaches everything and presents it in a comprehensive document. This little gem is hidden in the app store but now that you have found you must have it.

  • User for years

I’ve used PocketBible for more than 15 years and it has all my notes and highlights synchronized across all my devices. I love the different reading plans and all the customizations.
  • Longtime user

I have been using this app for many years now. It was great from the beginning, and keeps getting better. I have used several bile apps this is the best in my opinion. There is a feature I find exceptionally useful. The long press on scripture references in commentaries to bring up the verse with out leaving your screen. I wish it was available when looking at notes and journals, that would be really helpful.

  • Still the best mobile option, even over 20 years later!

I have been using PocketBible since (I believe) the first version. I had a new PalmPilot and the first thing I did was look for Bible software. Once I found Laridian I was hooked, and have been a loyal fan since!

Over the years, and over many types of devices, PocketBible is always my go-to software when starting a study or even doing some reading. Even now that the desktop heavy hitters have made mobile apps, and I can now access the desktop libraries I’ve invested so much in over the years, I still go to PocketBible first.

There is also a free desktop app for Windows, which also works great with Wine on Linux with minimal tweaking. Keep in mind, this is a very basic app and a bit dated, but it means you still can access the resources you purchased for mobile on your PC as well.

I would love for a more modern desktop app with a little more functionality, and perhaps a wider range of resources, but I know Craig is working with a very small team and this might be beyond the core focus, but it’s not a complaint, merely a wish. Either way, PocketBible is the best iOS Bible study app you can find and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

  • Hands down… the best

I have noticed how others have commented that they started using this app way back on a Palm Pilot. It’s the same with me. I have continued to install this app on every iPad, phone, and anything else supported that I have ever owned. It is quite simply the best app of this kind I have ever found. I hope the work will continue long into the future. Thank you to the authors!

  • Awesome and done in Excellence.

Been using Laridian for years on my computer and then transitioned to a laptop.
After years of using it on my laptop I found the app so I started using it on my smartphone and currently I’m on my second smartphone.
This is great for studying and searching for scriptures or for the Greek and Hebrew meanings.
Bonus is the amount of translations that is available plus maps and more.
Thoroughly enjoying this on my smartphone looking to try it on a IPAD soon.
Thanks for the awesome job with this app.

  • Love this app! Don’t like the audible readers.

I have been using Pocket Bible for over 10 years. It has always been easy to use and never filled with ads or suggestions to keep on purchasing although the books are there for purchase if I choose.

I love that I can easily check verses from five translations at the touch of an icon and have access to more translations with the touch of a few more.

The only thing I truly miss is the original “normal” voice for audio listening. The original audio was like a real person reading and not a drone, synthesized and monotone voice that it was changed over to. It doesn’t matter what voice you choose, it’s a horrible synthesized voice and makes listening incredibly distracting as it is not natural at all. Not sure why this was ever changed from the original. Please go back so I can listen as I drive.

For Bible reading and studies, this app is great and easy to use.

    Developer Response

Several years ago, before iOS had the ability to synthesize speech on its own, we licensed technology from another company and paid them about $1 for each voice we sold. A couple years later they changed their pricing so that we were paying over $100/month even if we didn't sell any voices, AND we were charged 30% by Apple and 70% by the voice company for every unit sold. At the same time that the price went up, Apple started offering a similar feature for free inside iOS. So rather than paying more than we were receiving for those voices, we switched to the free voices. The quality is roughly the same as before but you get it for free as part of your AFS subscription instead of having to pay for the subscription AND the voice.Glad to hear you're enjoying the other features of the app.
  • Long time user, love the recent changes!

I love this app! Every time i show it to folks at our Bible study, they are jealous! I admit, I have purchased all of the options that I can and lots of books so it makes it look and work great! I also use it on an iPad with a keyboard, so it works fantastic there.

The new features are awesome! I love the one-finger scrolling and the two-finger chapter scrolling! More recently, I have started using a keyboard with a touch pad. The scrolling still works great!

For Bible study, this app can’t be beat! I do use “The Bible” app for my daily reading, but if I want to “study” the Bible, this app is it! I also use it in church — I can see several versions at once along with the Greek. In split screen mode, I can take notes on one side and have this incredible Bible app on the other. Multi-pane is so helpful. Having commentaries and other resources at your fingertips is great.

Thanks for your hard work! I can’t recommend anything more than this app. Absolutely love it!

  • Almost everything...

I'll have to admit, that of all the Bible Apps out there, those one has almost every feature I want. I can even change some of my slight preference to fit into how the App works.
However, I dropped two stars for the inability to highlight the commentary notes I'm using.
I prefer to use John Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible. A reference not everyone has. I can add notes, copy and even bookmark in this book but cannot highlight.
This same issue exists with the downloadable User Guide.
I've read and understand the highlighting between books. However, these are references. I don't have an expectation of highlighting following between these and my Bible books.
The lack of ability to highlight reference material is a big enough problem to me to remove 2 stars from my rating.
    Think about it, Reference Material.
In my opinion, a big wrench in an otherwise very solid App.
