  • Tranquil & Challenging

Who would have thought that a game could be both tranquil and yet challenging simultaneously? The exquisite music and somewhat gothic animation combine to create a soothing & hypnotic environment whilst the endearing puzzles build in intensity. I could write much more singing effusive praises but I really want to head back to the mysterious land that is Contre Jour!

  • Beautiful (and fun, to boot!)

I can't emphasize enough how beautiful and unique this game is in terms of look. That's the first thing that you'll notice about it. It is by far the most gorgeous mobile game I've ever played. There is also a wonderfully melancholy soundtrack that accompanies the game and really adds to the mood.

In terms of gameplay it seems like they took many of the elements that work best for touch games and put them all together. It's a physics-based puzzler (is that a genre?) with really well thought out levels that will require some creative problem solving on your part. It makes it a lot of fun that there are different types of gameplay elements to interact with and master and keeps it from being as one note as games like Angry Birds or Cut the Rope.

I've only played through the first world, but I am loving it!!! My only concern at this point is that it will end to soon.

  • Excellent

If you're a fan of Cut the Rope, this is definitely another title that should be in your library.

Graphics are great and the almost exclusive use of greyscale brings a real sense of atmosphere when combined with the accompanying soundtrack.

Top marks, looking forward to more levels soon!
  • Cool game

    Great music
  • Wow

Even though the description did not convince me, I decided to try this game because of the number of high ratings. I just played for an hour straight the first time I opened the app. I am truly in awe. I find myself with such a smile from playing The game play, the personality, the sounds and music, as well as the beautiful world where it is set, these developers must have great artistic vision, and from what it looks like, fans of Tim Burton. This is the kind of game I would use to show off my new iPad. Congrats on the awesome game!!!

  • Cut the Rope but better

Contre Jour takes the Cut the Rope-like concept of maneuvering an object to the goal without controlling it directly and combines it with the dark, dreamlike world presented in World of Goo. It gives you more control over the environment than Cut the Rope, but also makes the puzzles more complex. The music fits very well and the animation is smooth and satisfying. You're going to have to use several different gameplay elements, the laws of physics, and pure creativity to win. If you like puzzle games, what are you waiting for?

  • Brilliant concept, beautifully executed

This is a fantastic game, as addictive as Angry Birds and in many ways more enjoyable to play. The music is wonderfully soothing. The landscapes are beautifully rendered and how you can make a one eyed wriggling ball loveable I don't know but they managed it. My son and I both play this game individually and together, solving the puzzles. It works on multiple levels and the fact it can appeal across age ranges is to me the sign of a great game.
Not is not a lot of money but it is a lot of game.

  • One Great Song!

This is a fun game, don't get me wrong. It's like angry birds meets gravity. The physics are great, the puzzles are clever, the graphics are amazing, and the music is wonderful. The first time I heard the single song that runs through the first 20 levels, I almost cried, it is so beautiful! But by the 30th time, the wonder had worn off. This game has received all kinds of praise for its soundtrack, but it's really not as much of a soundtrack as the same song over and over again. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't for this one huge issue. Get this fantastic composer to write a few more songs and cycle through them. You've got variety in the game-play, now add it in the soundtrack!

  • Stunning... A true work of art

Wow. This game is amazing. Not because of its mechanics, challenge or replay value... No, toss all that out the window. This game is a perfect example of video games as ART. If anyone (Roger Ebert I'm looking at you) doubts video games can be art, let them play this game and I dare them to say games can't be art. This game is a masterpiece. It literally feels like playing through a painting. And the music... oh, the music adds a whole new dimension. It's touching, almost to the point of tears. This game is such a moving display of creative beauty, it deserves a spot at the Louvre alongside the Mona Lisa. I'm not joking, either. Few games have been able to elicit such a visceral reaction from me. This game is one of them - do yourself a favor and play it.

  • Rad Game...!!!!

Looking at this on the Apple Store, it really didn't excite me... But all the great reviews peaked my interest to buy it. I went to play it being skeptical that it would be as great as others were saying... So not only did it have to be good, but starting out not expecting much...it had to be great...it was...I was surprised how fun it was... I am glad I got this game...very addicting... Very much like Angry Birds meets Cut The Rope meets physical contraptions... And to think I almost passed on this one...it is definitely worth every cent & a must have for iPad...!!! My fav game since Angry Birds...
